@Hiya_Unicorn:  I agree with the thick rimmed glasses. I’ve been wearing them since the 80’s because my prescription is so high and my lenses so thick anything else looks weird haha. I always got made fun of and now people tell me how “cool” my glasses are…THEY AREN’T COOL I CAN BARELY SEE!

Ellie Goulding. I loved her music (I live in the US) before she became huge over here. I’m sure people in the UK knew her before I did, but I like to believe I was one of the first “Americans” to find out about her.

I never ever get to be that person. EVER. I always have to join the masses… or even worse, learn about something way after everyone else knows everything else about it. I’m so oblivious. It makes me really sad.

The only hope I will seemingly ever have is that I have a dogged determination to never let go of the things that I like. So if something goes out of fashion, there IS a slim chance that 20 years later when it comes back in vogue, I’ll be rocking it, and it will make me SEEM like I’m all ahead of the curve.

However, I do have two things I’m currently keeping tabs on. If 1.) they make a high budget horror movie about the Slender Man and/ or The Rake, or 2.) Curling suddenly becomes an insanely popular event, I am totally claiming these. *keeps fingers crossed*

Thick rimmed glasses. Had ’em for years, a-la Lisa Loeb (remember her?)

Mitch Hedberg. So angry he died… Grr…

Daniel Tosh. His stand-up is so funny, but it’s too bad he dates himself in a lot of his comedy.

Lewis Black. Also dates himself with political humor.

Jon Stewart, pre-Daily Show (See above)

(Can you tell, I love my comedy?)

@Clairos: I know what you mean about the shoes & general “fashion.” Also grew up shopping in thrift stores before it was cool!

@Rouquine:  Haha Daniel Tosh did a stand up show at my college. I thought he was douchy and now he’s all over Comedy Central.

@StuporDuck:  Me too! My favorite places to shop were Goodwill and the few vintage stores we had around here. I ALWAYS got made fun of for it. I mean, yeah, we were poor, but I had a very eclectic/avant garde sense of fashion.

I forgot to add Adele on here! I had her first CD right after “Chasing Pavements” hit the radio, and then 21 came out and everyone’s finally like, “Adele! Adele!” I bring up songs from 19 all the time and always get, “Huh?”

@Jennawesbren:  Me too! Jason Mraz played at my school’s dance back when he was just getting started and scraping for gigs. I was so excited but no one else knew who he was. Now we all get to say we knew him when!

@Hiya_Unicorn:  I hadn’t thought of unicorns until you said it.  I’ve said since I was little I wanted a Unicorn!

The Black Keys.  I saw them in concert 3 times before they were on every commercia/moviel in America.  Fiance has since shunned them for sellling out.  I make fun of him for it.  haha.

I had my belly button pierced before it was cool, when it was still shocking. I no longer have one and wish I had never done it (having a baby does funny things to your body).

@MissSooner:  Have to agree on the Dane cook thing, first time I saw him was on his 30 min act like 10 years ago and I fell it love lol about 5 years later so did everyone else.

Also having piercings and tattoos, I have had them since it made you a “freak” so to speak now everyone and their mom has something pierced or tattooed.

Robert Downey Jr! Maybe he was always cool, but NOT like he is now! When I was in Jr High my best friend and I were obsessed with him! I loved him in Home For The Holidays and It Had to Be You. I about lost it when he was in Ali McBeal! Now everyone loves him.

Excited to see so many Jason Mraz fans. He “started” out in San Diego and I remember seeing him years back at Java Joe’s (Live at Java Joe’s is one of my fav albums) and when he released his first album he did a small signing at Lou’s Record. He and Toca are so funny together, but I definitely miss the old acoustic stuff and the intimate settings. I also liked John Mayer (hate him now though) and Tori Amos before they went mainstream.

This doesn’t technically count since I had no choice about “liking” this..

Being ginger. SO MUCH childhood abuse about my ugly orange hair, and now it’s EVERYWHERE. So many people dye their hair red now!
