Congrats!! I need to start toning up again myself. I used to hit the gym constantly & snack less, but marriage changed all that!

When I read the post title my first thought was “Aww… someone is sick :(” because a few months ago I lost 4lbs in two days because I was throwing up so much from food poisoning.

Good to see your weight loss is intentional and healthy πŸ™‚

Unfortunately, this is likely to be water loss. It is not safe or healthy to continue that rate of weight loss.It is better to make healthy dietary changes that are long term. The weight will come off more gradually, but you are way more likely to maintain your weight loss.

if you keepup with that diet, your metabolic rate will soon shut down to almost nothing as you are literally starving your body.

@mrsedwardslpn:  As a Registered Nurse with years of experience, a BSN, and an MScN, and as a woman who lost over 100 lbs and has kept it off for years, I wish you luck with that hun.

@julies1949:  But isn’t it normal for people to lose more weight in the beginning?

@mrsedwardslpn: Well done! Congratulations πŸ™‚ I’ve heard about cinnamon helping you lose weight. Do you just put it into your tea? I’d like to lose a little bit of weight too (nothing drastic, 5-7 pounds) and “cheating” with cinnamon sunds like a good idea.

I gotta agree with @julies1949:

And I am not a nurse.

But I can do the math.

20 to 40 lbs from now to May or July as per your wish is not healthy (I’d be seriously looking for a NEW Doctor, if a medical professional advised you otherwise)

On the low end…

# 1 would be 20 Lbs to July 1st = 14 Weeks = 1.42 Lbs per week

# 2 would be 40 Lbs to July 1st = 14 Weeks = 2.85 Lbs per week

And on the extreme ends…

# 3 would be 20 Lbs to May 1st = 5 Weeks = 4 Lbs per Week

# 4 would be 40 Lbs to May 1st = 5 Weeks = 8 Lbs per Week

HEALTHY Weight Loss should be in the neighbourhood of 1 to 2 Lbs per week.  In which case only the # 1 option above would be considered within that framework

Honestly, for someone in a Nursing Program, I would have imagined you’d be better informed on this stuff

Wanting to lose weight is one thing… wanting to be healthy is sometimes very different… I suggest that you concentrate on the benefits of the latter vs the “hazaards” of the former with the plan you seem to have in mind.
