Wow, the outpouring of love and condolences from you guys is absolutely amazing. I can’t thank you enough, especially for sharing similar stories to let me know that I’m not the only one who let something that was so special to me slip literally through my fingers. I was beating myself up pretty hard last night for it.
After class, I went to as many pawn shops as I could and posted to Craigslist, but nobody has seen them anywhere. I also haven’t received a call from the transit center with any news. My post on Facebook has been shared ~50 times since last night, and my post on Buy Sell and Trade has been viewed ~200 times, so there are definitely people out there looking. I have a choir concert tomorrow, and buses don’t run on Sundays, so I’m going to put flyers up on Monday.
I talked to my mother this morning about what happened, and she said that while it sucks, if it makes me feel any better, I’ll eventually get the ring that she kept from my grandmother and a necklace when she passes. That didn’t really make me feel any better, but she’s trying. She told me she would loan me $50 to help fund for a new ring to be both a stand in ring for my engagement ring (it’s gonna be a while…) And then eventually to be a RHR. I didn’t really go ring shopping for my engagement ring, so it’s something to look forward to. I don’t think I’m going to get a ring just like my grandmother’s because it’s next to impossible, but maybe something with her birth stone or something similar?
As for my fiance’s reaction, he pretty much told me it wasn’t as big a deal as I was making it, and that he believed there might be some form of insurance while he made payments on the ring, and that he would look into it. I’m torn though over whether I should get the same exact ring with the same inscription, or if I should try something different. What are your thoughts??
Again, I can’t thank you guys enough. Honestly, I had so many pictures of my ring readily available because I would take pictures periodically so I could post them here on the Bee! I loved the beauty of my ring, and was always happy to share it with people who will actually care about what rings look like!
If there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s A. Get a ring that fits or B. Either hold the ring in between my teeth while washing my hands (I saw a girl do it the other day with her’s) or put it in my pocket!
