I had an old glass and plated ring too, I bought it for 20p when I was 3 or 4 so it had nothing but sentimental value but the landlord where I was stay let a ‘possible room mate’ who was looking round in my locked room… that was gone along with a bunch of other things including bank statements and ID and the person obviously never came back, she took a bunch of things but the only thing I remember is she took that ring – it would litrally mean NOTHING to her but it was sentimental to me cry

I know how you feel. I lost 2 engagement rings 🙁

The first one which he actually proposed to me with I lost while swimming and the second one while throwing out the trash.

I am not a jewelry person at all. Never have liked it nor wore it. So we went swimming with my stepson and my hubby and I asked him “Can I swim with my ring on” and he said “yea you can” well low and behold when we got out it was off my finger. No where to be found..

pandee :  Do this…..post fliers in that station and post it in the bathroom with a message saying, I left my rings HERE and put an arrow. Write a personal plea saying how sentimental they are and no questions will be asked upon return. Offer a small reward (if they’re a decent human being, they will decline the award) but they might have it and not know what to do with it or your sign might at least grab their conscious. People might start to repost on social media. It’s better than nothing!! Explain it has very little value but very sentimental to you!

stephaniee24 :  That sounds like your rings were sized wrong.  If they are sized right, they shouldn’t slip off that easily, even in water.  My rings have been in countless oceans and pools the last 6-7 years, snorkeling, swimming, scuba, just splashing around and are still here on my hand.

pinkshoes :  It actually was to small when he first proposed to me and we had it re sized. I thought it fit well but I guess not..

The second one fit well, but my ring finger started breaking out and it was bumpy and itchy and in order for me not to scratch i put on a band aid and put the ring over, except it wouldn’t go down all the way and when I was taking out the trash at work somehow i lost it 🙁

I can relate to this. 🙁 I had a ring from my mom that was given to her in her 20s by my late grandmother. I wore it to a weekend at a friends ski house, and when we got home I realized I no longer had it. I think I took it off and put it on the dresser in the room where we slept and then it got knocked off. I asked the owners of the house to look for it, but they didn’t go up until weeks later and they couldn’t find it. It wasn’t worth much, but I still feel terrible when I think abou it.

I would definitely do your best to find them (check pawnshops, hang signs, etc.), but if that doesn’t work just try not to beat yourself up about it. We’re all human, and it happens. The number of people I know, especially of my parents generation, who no longer have their original e-ring/diamond is pretty astounding.

I got chills reading this story – my mom lost her grandmother’s ring (which was my mom’s engagement ring) by leaving it on the sink of a bus transit center in San Francisco – but in the 1970s. It was just how you described it, she realized it, doubled back and it was already gone. I just couldn’t believe how similar the stories were.

I am so sorry this happened to you, my mom has told me many times how absolutely heartbreaking it was. If it’s any consolation – she has always maintained that the ring was a thing, the marriage is the true gift. She wore a simple gold band for years, and then decades later upgraded back to another ring she loved. My heart goes out to you!

Awe- oh no girl, I am so sorry this happened to you- I would be devasted.  What does your Fiance think about it?  Although, in the grand scheme of things, this will all be a bad memory down the road, and you will get a new one.  I am praying someone returns it and does the right thing, I couldn’t sleep with myself if that was me and I knew I had someone elses rings.

This exact thing happened to my friend when we were in Vegas, she was newly engaged, took the ring off to wash her hands when she came back out she looked at me with this horrified look on her face, and ran back into the bathroom not 2 minutes later, and it was gone.  She didnt take it well, but things happen, and now I doubt she even ever thinks about that!
