@Heidibrooke:  Have you checked in your kids belongings/room? maybe one of them grabbed them to play dress up?

@canarydiamond:  I don’t think my wedding set is worth enough to bother. We have coverage under our home policy but I didn’t let my man spend much on my rings. If need be, I’d just replace them. I can see that it makes sense in some cases though.

@blingbride21:  I never take mine off. I get my white gold dipped in rodium every 6 months and cleaned every 3 (by my jeweller). I’ve never understood why people take their rings off either, but a lot of folks do.

@taylorkirby:  I believe that they let you pick your jeweler. You could always call them and ask.

@Heidibrooke:  Have you tried the vacuum with the pantyhose yet? To make sure it’s not under furniture or applicances, like the fridge, put a pair of pantyhose over the vacuum cleaner and turn it on. That way if your ring fell underneath something you’ll be able to pull it up without it being sucked in the vacuum. Good luck, I really really hope you find them! I’ve been waffling on getting insurance on mine, but your story has motivated me to do it.

Edit: You can try this trick in the car too. Maybe it fell under your seat or in that little area between the door.

If you’re concerned about not getting an exact replacement for your ring, upload pictures of it with the appraisal, or get an appraisal that includes detailed photos.

my appraisal specifically says the weight of the platinum in the ring, because the stones are inexpensive– and it’s just described as “platinum ring” so that I could choose any replacement that I wanted.

Try searching for them when you’re not stressed or upset. Take a moment when you feel calm to look through the car again, under the mats and under the seat, under the pedals etc. Between the door and the seat. If I look for something when I’m feeling frantic, it could be right in front of me and I can not see it. I truly hope they show up.

Have you dumped out your purse?

@Heidibrooke:  Don’t give up! My sister lost her e-ring for a good three weeks, until my cousin randomly found it in the crack of the front seat of my mom’s car. They could still turn up! My fingers are crossed for you!

Don’t be quick to look for a new set – take some time to cool off and look again. They’ll come up!!!

@Heidibrooke:  Don’t give up!  I thought I lost my ring a month ago.  I’m like you and ALWAYS put it in the jewelry box on my dresser when I’m not wearing it or I put it on my nightstand when I go to sleep because it scratches me.  We searched the house for a week.  I searched my car.  We searched the rocks near our patio.  I checked the lost and found ads on Craigslist every day.  Fiance said he even stripped the bed after I told him I may have fallen asleep with it on and took it off in the middle of the night.

We were starting to shop around for a new ring and file a claim when I was getting out of bed about 2 weeks later and my hand ran over something under the fitted sheet.  Yes, my ring was UNDER the fitted sheet of our bed after Fiance had stripped it.  Don’t panic.  Just keep on searching and it will turn up.

Have you checked your purse? Like three days after I got engaged I nearly had a meltdown after I thought I lost my (not yet insured!) ring in a Target parking lot. Turns out it had slipped off in my purse while I was rooting around for something before I got out of the car. I could have kissed the lady who suggested I look there before starting to comb the lot.

I am chiming in to say “DON’T LOSE HOPE”

In May I lost my ring while preparing for an event – hands on work and my ring fell off.  OMG broke my heart.  10 days later someone found it!  I had sent email pics to everyone I knew and all the places I had been and he knew it was mine from the email.

I cried like a baby when he found it.

So don’t give up hope…you can still find them.  Good luck!

I have a friend who took hers off to wash her hands in the restroom at work – luckily it was in a bathroom that’s not used frequently and when she realized it was still there.

Did you use a restroom out anywhere that you might have put it on the sink when you washed your hands?

I lost a small ring that belonged to my great grandmother once.  Never found it and it’s been 10 years.  Still upset about that one.
