I cannot wait to be his wife.
You know how your SO does something so sweet and you just go aww?
I just had a major moment like that. For those of you who haven’t heard, Hurricane Sandy just socked NY, NJ, CT, RI, WV, VA, MD, DE, and I’m sure I’m missing a state or two there, but I digress. I live in NJ and SO lives in NY (Staten Island to be precise) as do my Aunt and Uncle. Well the storm blew in and left a mess, fortunately my home was spared, SO was watching and holding his breath as the floodwaters crept closer and closer to his house, but thankfully only stopping a block away from his door. He lost power, but thankfully that is it. When I last spoke to my Aunt and Uncle it was 1pm on 10/29 and they were preparing to go to their Cousin’s house further uphill or a shelter if need be. They said that if we couldn’t reach them at the house, to try each of their cell phones. 4hours later we lost our phone line for a little bit, but when it came back an hour or so later, we tried calling them again to let them know what had happened. Their home phone number went directly to the answering machine… quite odd, but we tried calling each of their cell phones… which went directly to voicemail. In a last ditch effort I tried calling my Uncle’s work cell phone number, which rang and rang and then his voicemail picked up. Left him another message, and even texted him. We tried calling them several more times before heading to bed, assuming we’d hear from them the next day when things had settled. It’s now been about 36 hours since I last heard from them and all day I had been worried about them, I texted SO about this, and he went over to their house (he’s been there many times before and gets along well with them) and called me telling me that both of their cars were there. He said he had tried knocking on their screen door but got no answer, I suggested opening the screen door and knocking on the inside door, he did and still no answer. He left a note for them to find saying that we’re looking for them and please call us. He did this while his cell phone reception cut out on our conversation constantly and my phone spazzed out several times. I had tears of thankfulness in my eyes as I took in all that he was doing for me and my family. It means the world to us that he would go over there and face the unknown road conditions to check up on my Aunt and Uncle. I still want to go over and try knocking on their door tomorrow but hopefully they will see his note and call us. I love this man and I cannot wait to be his wife. He means the world to me, and what he does means the world to me.
