I didn’t think it was rude either until I read the “good thing money is no object” part! That is just rude!!

I love that it is your grandmothers ring! That is so sweet and romantic! I personally love stories like that! A ring with some history or meaning behind it is so much more special then a store bought ring! I think so, anyway! I am actually envious that I don’t have an heirloom ring like that in my family, otherwise I would have used that as my ering! I would take an heirloom ring with a story that was smaller over a bigger store bought ring any day!! Plus I just can’t handle the fact that we feel our men must spend x amount of dollars on us just to make us feel special, damn you DeBeers!!

Being from the most passive-aggressive state in the country, I think her comments sound mean as hell! Back-handed compliments, my mom says?

I love your ring. It’s very Gatsby-esque to me.

HOW RUDE! i always say,  not only did she give you a little dig but she put the attention on her. sounds to me like she doesnt get enough compliments abt her own ring.

I love your ring! It looks a lot like my grandmas.

and at least she called you petite and tiny – and your ring probably wouldn’t look good on her apparently large hands either so it goes both ways.

Your ring looks EXACTLY like the ring that was passed down from my grandmother, mother and to me.  I don’t wear that ring because Fiance picked out a ring and set it with an inherited stone from his family’s side, but I’ve always been in love with my grandmother’s ring and I am equally in love with yours.  I’m sitting here looking at my grandma’s ring right now and it IS delicate and petite.  But that’s what I love about it.  It’s a thin band, a delicate setting and it’s just gorgeous.  I hope you love the ring as much as I do!

Your ring is beautiful! People say things about my petite ring too, but it’s what I picked out, so I could care less! It’s a little over 1 ct total (center stone .59ct). But I am 5’9″ and a size 8-10 in jeans! So it looks very proportionate to my hand. I want the thinnest wedding band I can possibly find, as well. I always tell people “thank you! I love that I don’t smack it on walls, counters … etc” when they have a honkin-gaudy ring and say things about mine. I am in LOVE with vintage rings and wish there was one in my family! I ended up with a “new-age” vintage ring from a jewelry store, haha.

Anyways though, I think people are just going to be rude to make themselves feel better. Don’t worry about it. Your ring is fabulous and it means so much to you. And yeah, hooray for no outrageous ring debt…seriously! More date nights for you! 😉

Well I guess its all a matter of perception. Because personally I do think your ring is petite. It is gorgeous too though. I am hoping to get a ring less than 1/2  a carat because that is what I like. I really believe the ring should represent not only your love, but also your personality. When I do finally get my ring (haha, when, not if!) and people tell me its small, I will be glad, Because that is what it is. You should only be offended if you are somewhat self concious of the size to begin with. Otherwise you would have just agreed that it is dainty. There is nothing wrong with a dainty ring, and also nothing wrong with pointing that out. Bigger does not equal better, and vise versa.

I love your ring! It’s very similar to my grandmother’s ring (which was given to her by my grandfather in 1954!!) Her stone is much much smaller than .65, if I had to guess I’d say 1/8 carat. It sparkles like crazy and has so much history to it. That is really amazing that you have a beautiful family heirloom as your engagement ring. Don’t let others bring you down. You are engaged to the man of your dreams and have a gorgeous ring!
