As a budget bride, I’m going everything that I can to save money wherever possible. Centerpieces, while important, are certainly not the most crutial part of the wedding. Sure, I want them to look awesome but I’m not willing to spend a fortune on something that most guests won’t even really care about.
Last fall I started garage saleing with my mom every Saturday morning as kind of our bonding time together. She’s seriously obsessed with garage sales. She plans out our route days ahead of time and scopes out all sorts of websites to find the best sales in the area.
Last fall I started looking for funky glassware that we could use for the centerpieces. I brought home my latest addition today and I’m pretty excited about it. We’re having 10 tables but only 5 will need the funky glassware (other 5 are going to be floral). So far I have 3 tables down and 2 to go.
I’m planning on doing a variation of this inspiration pic for each table…
And my purchases…
(Don’t mind the frame. I picked that up for $0.25 brand new.)
Total investment – $3.25!! I see these in TJ Maxx for $10+ each. I love bargain hunting. Anyone else hitting up some garage sales for wedding stuff?

That is an awesome find! I also love garage sales, but they seems to be less popular around here nowadays. Also….garage sales became the get rich quick scheme in my area a few years back and then everyone was putting together their broken junk to sale.
It is a great way to find that random treasure. My mom found an old mini organ that still works great for free

@Gingersnap: I was pretty excited about that as well!
@MamaHusky3: That’s awesome. It’s getting to be flea market season around here so I’m sure we’ll be hitting up some of those in the next few weeks.
@Tunacupcakes: There are definitely more useless crap garage sales than hidden treasure garage sales, that’s for sure. There are certain houses on our “route” that have a sale every weekend. How much junk do you have people?!
@CanadianMermaid: Thanks!! =)

Awesome finds! I did not go to garage sales, but I did go to every goodwill, salvation army, and second hand thrift store I could find in my town and the town where my parents live. We got anything brass -candlesticks and vases and any glass with gold on it. I kept joking we were having a second hand wedding that was paid for in the form of donations (our venue money was a donation for eye research). But I loved the out come and got lots of comlements. Happy hunting 🙂
