We just got a call from our DJ to go over things for our backyard reception this Saturday. We originally booked this DJ company for a Friday evening reception right after we got engaged. Once planning got in full swing Fiance decided he wanted a Satuday afternoon reception so I set about changing all of our deposits and contracts to reflect this. I emailed our DJ company in Feb, gave them the new date and new address, and promptly checked it off my todo list. They let us change everything with no hastle and so I figured everything was fine…until we got a call from our DJ tonight to confirm our wedding for 7pm. Gulp. I reviewed the email I sent the company and sure enough…I did not include the time change.
I am beating myself so bad right now! Fiance is totally calm and doesn’t blame me one bit. I have been so proud of myself for staying so organized throughout planning this wedding only to have it unravel during the last week.
Hopefully they have another DJ available for Saturday. Or maybe they will be willing to give us a refund (even a partial refund) even though it was my fault. It won’t take me long to throw together a playlist and hook up an ipod (I did this for a friend’s wedding recently).
Honestly, we were debating about having a DJ for quite sometime so maybe this is meant to be, at least that’s what I keep telling myself.
Have any of you made dumb mistakes? Were you able to catch it in time to solve the issue? Did any of your guests even notice?

ooo this may be a great opportunity to save some money!

No experience with this yet, but I will say. Most guests will have NO CLUE what was or wasn’t “supposed” to happen. Whatever happens, just go with it. I much prefer to be in the dark to whatever went “wrong” as a guest. 🙂 Friends tell me later “OH yeah, such and such was late and blah blah” and I usually had no idea.

Aww, don’t stress until you hear back from them. Easier said than done, I know, but try to calm down!
They probably don’t have an event booked that afternoon if you were already booked for that evening.
Plus, you’re in the minority for having a daytime wedding. They would be much more likely to be booked for an evening wedding.
We totally forgot to do the bouquet toss at our wedding- haha. Everyone makes weird mistakes!

Oh no! I hope that works out for you!
We did make one pretty big mistake…..although I designed the template, I totally forgot to actually PRINT our programs…and we had a program attendant…LOL! She became the guest book attendant instead.

@Mrs. Meowerson: that is what we were thinking 🙂 If they happen to be understanding and will give a refund that would be great! I just hope they don’t keep all of our money and still not give us a dj!
@AmeliaBedelia: very little people know our actual plans for the wedding so we should be able to play any malfunctions off.
@brideatbeach: the dj the company had assigned to us works a day job as well and he is scheduled that day. It sounds like a lot of their djs use this as a second gig. Who knows, maybe we will get lucky and someone will havae the day off and be desperate for money!
@Linz1231: that sounds like something I would do, for sure. I am good at planning. Clearly not as good at executing.
As of right now, it is also predicted to rain our wedding day and our tent doesn’t cover all of our food and tables. If we end up not having a dj we could use the extra space for more tables or the food. Just trying to look on the bright side 🙂
