DH bought my engagement ring and I bought my wedding band. Is this possible, if he does not want to split the e-ring cost? Then you can get an enhancer or more bling.

i make double what my husband makes, plus i have alot of savings, which he didn’t.

thank goodness, my mom offered him my grandmother’s diamond and he could trade in the value of the setting to put towards the setting of my ering, then he paid the difference.  i’m sure i would have been happy with whatever he could afford.  but i love the ering i have.

for my wedding band, i wanted something that he couldn’t afford, so i just bought my own wedding band and he bought his band.

it wasn’t a big deal.  we had a quick conversation and were on the same page about things.  i understood his financial situation, and he understood mine.

now we’ve been married 6.5 years and everything is combined so it doesn’t really matter in the end.

My SO maxed out his budget and got me a diamond ring which I truly appreciate. However, we both found it too small but he had no financial means to further upgrade it as he had bills and his parents to pay for. We both agreed that I would pay for the further upgrade and the wedding bands. There was no offense taken! We are both happy and are on the look out for a new diamond

Nothing wrong with it at all. As long as you are able to bring it up in a way that doesn’t offend him, I say go for it.

doubtfulbride :  I absolutely think you should openly tell him exactly what you want and say you will add up to $X to whatever he is spending (regardless of how much he is spending). Or would you prefer to just buy it together? Then you could both cobtribute to something possibly even nicer.
