Hi Bees!
I haven’t been on in a long time, mainly because that month leading up to the wedding was out of control!!!! The good news is that, as crazy busy as things got, even up to the day before the wedding, on the actual day itself, everything was done and stress-free and WONDERFUL!
I always see in Recaps that Bees suggest things for other bees to do or do differently…I have a couple of pointers…But as far as “I wish this would have been different, etc.” I can honestly say that my wedding day was a beautiful, fun, actually extremely fun, celebration and everyone has told me that it was the best wedding they ever attended…Every single person was on the dance floor, FI’s groomsmen and lots of our guests are Coast Guard officers so they were in their formal whites which looked amazing to see those guys everywhere…The weather was perfect…I could just go on and on forever:)
One thing that I had read from other bees was to make sure that I fed my bridesmaids on the day of, while we are getting our hair/makeup done. We had to be at the salon for 10am and were there until 2. I packed an ice chest with beverages and champagne and snacks in it, and also had a local restaurant bring in a few trays of catered food. I think that really helped to keep the momentum all day. No one got hungry…I had also brought my ipod portable speaker and we played fun music while we all got hair and makeup and drank mimosas…It was just a really fun mood all day that spilled over into the rest of the day until the ceremony.
My other word of advice is to make sure that you have everything done before the day of…Don’t save any last minute things for that day, even to delegate them. If it kills you, just make sure the only thing you have to worry about is getting pretty and then putting your dress on! I think that was a huge difference maker.
Anyway, we were married on a rooftop gazebo in Fort Lauderdale at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort. Our cocktail hour was on the “North rooftop” on a different side of the hotel, and our reception was on a veranda overlooking the Pelican’s private beach. It was simply amazing, and worth every penny spent and every panic attack had:)
It was a great party…My only regret is that I was so busy dancing that I didn’t eat cake:( Which we cut with one of the Coast Guard guys’ swords -haha
No pro pics yet except for our thank you card photo listed below, which I’d also like to mention that I just printed out on cardstock after months of considering paying $30 and up for a real sign…I think it did the job just as well for about 3 cents:)
