Honestly, that sounds like an EXTREME overreaction to a gif on facebook. Either there is something else going on here, or she was looking for an excuse to let the friendship die. Because that’s just stupid to stop talking to someone over a freaking gif. I don’t care how offensive it is. Also, if it was her post, she could have deleted it herself.

This is just so absurd. Text her and apologize, and if she doesn’t accept it, she’s not really worth the time.

codepurple89 :  That seems like a silly thing to get THAT upset about.

If you’ve been friends for 15 years you should be able to communicate, I’d ask to meet up for coffee, or a drink and just flat out ask her what the deal is and let her know you’ve missed her and want to figure out how to get your friendship back on track.

If she won’t meet up with you, perhaps a phone call will do.

codepurple89 :  That sounds good! But really, someone who lets a gif on facebook damage a 15 year friendship…doesn’t really sound like someone you’d want to be friends with.

I also want to know what the gif was because that seems like a crazy overreaction. Also, the person who makes the status has the ability themselves to delete any comments on it, so not sure why she’d even text you to delete it rather than do it herself (so if she saw it pretty quickly, she immediately had the power to delete it herself so that others didn’t see it too if it was so offensive…)

I would call her and directly ask her whats up, because it sounds like there must be something else going on.

yes, please describe said gif because I can’t imagine anything that a friend could post that I would end a 15 year friendship over. Obviously there’s some horrible things on the internet but I also know how that gif generator works so this is a definite over reaction on her part.

jz0909 :  that’s a good point I hadn’t thought of….if she was really THAT offended she could have removed it herself and talked to OP about it on the side.

The GIF generator on FB is super touchy and I’ve seen countless random GIFs on statuses followed by someone saying “sorry, i did not mean to post that!”  So its a HUGE overreaction on her part and frankly really rude to completely disinvite you to the reception.

I’m dying to know what the GIF was!!!!

Yeah, she had the ability to either delete your gif comment or hide it, so I’m really not sure what bee is up her bonnet… I’m thinking she’s just not that into you anymore, given that she would seemingly let your friendship die over THIS. There got to be more to it from her end.

Oh come on. I’ve posted the wrong gif before on FB, and just apologize and write that it was an error. This seriously should not be a friendship ending mistake.

Hmmm I feel like there’s more to this that you’re not telling us. As PP have mentioned, she could’ve deleted the comment herself. And if you’ve been friends for 15 years surely she knows what you’re like and would accept your apology…
