I might be going mad… do you like this black diamond ring set?

I would go for it!! I think it’s stunningly beautiful  and unique. If you ended up wanting more sparkle in the future you could always add a U or V shaped white diamond band to one side!

opalgrey :

Honestly get what you love and don’t worry about everyone else’s opinion. I’d just tell your mum that she can put whatever ring she likes on her fingers and you will be doing the same.

I will say my opinion doesn’t matter but that is beautiful. I can also imagine that it would be an amazing ring to stack with different bands. I’m seeing it paired with a thick gold organic type of band or a thin gold pave band that follows the contours of the engagement ring. I’m also seeing grey rose cut diamonds and gold with it too. Amazing ring and so hope you do get it and come post back with it on your finger. I want to see you do some amazing ring porn stacks with it. 💛

opalgrey :  that setting is to die for—(edited because I’m either blind or a total dumbass…those are clearly not antler-shaped prongs at second glance) that being said, while I love the black and gold combo, I think a traditional diamond or another pastel-colored gemstone would be beautiful in that set. have you thought about a salt and pepper diamond?

your mom’s opinion is a non-factor. you’re not getting married to her, are you? 😉

Very awesome and unique! It’s not your mom’s ring, so it doesn’t matter what she thinks. She can buy her own rings and make decisions about herself only.

I love it! Though  I think l’d wear it the other way up, esp when you have a wedding ring beneath it. It is different but still elegant. Artistic but not arty.

I think you either love black diamonds or you hate them. I fall into the latter category, but if the ring speaks to you, go for it! Your mother isn’t wearing the ring – you are.

If it’s any consolation, my mom would love it!!

I really like it! It’s super elegant! And yeah, my mom was a little “eh….” when we were talking about sapphires but once she saw my ring she loved it and said “it’s totally you” so get what makes you happy! We’re all going to look back on our rings as trendy when we bought them, but I love that. I love looking at my moms ring and clearly knowing it’s from the 70s! It gives me a heads up how long someone has been together! And my MIL’s ring couldn’t be more 1980 if it wanted to be! But it’s so great to me that you can see how long someone has been together by their ring! Think on it for a little bit, look at other things and if you keep coming back to this one, go for it!!

I’m usually hyper traditional and I love this. It isn’t my personal taste but I would envy the bad-assery of the woman who rocked it opalgrey :

opalgrey :  It’s beautiful, and so different! Looks great on you. Don’t worry about what others (including your mom) think. If it speaks to you, it’s probably the one. ❤️

I don’t personally like the setting because I’m not a fan of over pronounced prongs, and those ones look really spiky and aggressive. But the stone itself and the band are incredible, I think it’s fab and if you love it you should go for it! It’s unique and different, but not crazy or a trend piece.
