Arodef:  well YES you should try it on!! You dont want to be freaking out right before the wedding!

this is what fittings are for, to adjust it to fit you perfectly. If it doesn’t fit – you cant take this as a dose of reality and use it as motivation to be where you want to be for ur 2nd fitting

Plus, don’t be embarrassed! Do you know how many brides that come in and have put on weight? They probably wont even bat an eyelid

No need to freak out since you can’t exactly picture what will happen, you’re the size you are right now and that’s that! The fitting was basically me putting on my dress, yes it’s the right one, and taking it off lol. Is it a corset? If so, you should have no problems. And if it’s a zipper, most salons I think are pretty nice and they’ll just avoid that fact and then discuss alterations probably?

I understand your worries but it’s out of your control right now! Just wait for next week and use that as your “wake up call” to get back on track 🙂 you got this!

I’m getting married in Novermber too! I ordered my dress at the beginning of March with the hopes of LOSING 10 lbs for my wedding and instead GAINED 10, putting me at 20 above my goal! When my dress arrived mid-summer, I managed to squeezed into it, but it was pretty snug around my hips (my problem area). I’ve lost about six lbs since then and even that small amount helped a bit… though I’d like to lose another 14-15 in the next couple of months. And I agree with PP… it’s been a good motivator for me to eat better and exercise! Good luck!

Arodef:  i’m in the same boat. My bridals are in November, so i’m doing my best to whip myself into shape right now bc i’ve gained 10lb since i bought my dress in March

I wanted to share that i was Maid/Matron of Honor in 2 weddings a couple years ago. When these friends got engaged, i had just lost a ton of weight w a crash diet, ordered my dresses in teh size i fit in at the time- then gained a good 40lb by the time the weddings rolled around. I was so disgusted w myself. BUT i found a magician of a seamstress who got those dresses to fit (that & a good undergarment!!). Dont stress too much- most dresses have plenty of room to be let out if need be 🙂

My dress wouldn’t fit. And couldn’t be altered to fit. I am about 5’8″ and 140 pounds currently. I originally went dress shopping I had been sick with something like the flu and had probably lost a few pounds. I remember the dress I tried on being quite tight, but the lady said it wouldn’t need alterations if I got it in that size, and so I did. Then I got really really sick (like I had to have spinal tap and ended up in the ER three times in less than two weeks) just before I had to go pick up my dress. So I was covered in needle marks and bruises and hadn’t been able to shave and was too embarrassed to try the dress that came in on. Fast forward a few months. My mom flew in to visit me and we tried my dress on and there was no way it was buttoning. We went to see the alterations people and they basically said it couldn’t be done. Luckily DB exchanged it for me. Apparently I am a 10 in wedding dresses. The dress I had was a 6. LOL. I think the originial dress I tried on was really too small and should have been ordered in an 8, and then I gained weight when healthy up to a 10. I don’t look that different. I definitely wasn’t willing to go on a diet to fit in a dress since I am healthy.
