I can’t find the picture but one of my favorite college memories was the night we got engaged. We had gone on a date and returned to campus engaged. We had a blast running around to all of our friends rooms telling them the good news!

I am so jealous that you had such a fab time in college.  I made the somewhat crazy decision to go to a college where students are notoriously overworked and underslept and social life often completely forgone.  The vast majority of students are going on to grad or professional school and so feel constant, overwhelming guilt when they’re doing something fun instead of working.  It’s doesn’t leave much time to be crazy and young!  I have been vegetating since I came home for spring break, eating chocolate chips straight from the bag and watching Big Love, and I haven’t been so relaxed in ages…but at the same time, I cannot fully enjoy it because I know I’m neglecting a massive amount of work.  I honestly think grad school is going to be more refreshing and provide me with a chance to act young because there’s not as much pressure to get very good grades to provide for your future.  All you have to do is complete your work and you’re golden.  At least that’s what alums tell us!

i do and i don’t miss college.  i miss having a ton of people living right next to me that i could do something random with at a moment’s notice.   i don’t miss all the classes and homework, which was pretty much my existence in college.  i don’t miss having roommates that i disliked.  I regret having a boyfriend in college that I spent all my time with…  it ensured that I didn’t make many close girl friends.  There are definitely things I would do differently if I could go back.

i think it would be fun to go back, but then i think about how immature and young everyone would seem to me now and the fact that I could be their teacher.  Then it doesn’t seem that great to go back.

I also had a GREAT time at college…I went to Michigan State University and still bleed green ๐Ÿ™‚

I graduated just last year and even though I miss the college days I wouldn’t change back to it for the world!

@veganglam – I don’t know what you are planning to go to grad school for, but it really isn’t better than undergrad.  It is less structured work and less class time but it’s still a pain and a lot more stressful in my opinion.

I love you guys, but after just finishing a four page paper on gun lobbying (BLEH), I can’t wait to get the heck out of college. ๐Ÿ™‚

@amariem–Anthropology!  I don’t doubt that grad school will be really stressful (I mean, come on, eight more years of school? Teaching and grading papers? Field research? Writing a dissertation? Bleh.), but all the alums from my school that I have spoken to (several dozen at least) have sworn up down and crossways that it is not as stressful and frustrating as being at our undergrad college!  It’s just a really, really neurotic place.  Much more so than I was expecting when I applied, even though I knew it had that reputation.

I don’t miss college (went to a school I know I wouldn’t get too many loans at and didn’t especially like) but I do have a lot of good memories from those 5 years!

@labor —it is super nice to leave work and be DONE! in theory…except that hardly ever happens.

I rarely ever skipped class but the fact that it a choice to go makes it easier then work…more of a forced prison sometimes haha

but life after college is great…really! ๐Ÿ™‚

I feel so ambivalent about this. I’m in my very last semester of college, and I feel more “grown up” than my friends, who are still really into partying. I am ready for my “big girl” life with FI! Part of the struggle is that we are long distance and he is graduated, so I feel like he is already off in his adult life and I am just waiting impatiently to join him. He tells me all the time I will miss college, but right now it is really hard for me to enjoy it the same way I did before he and I met. Maybe I will feel different one day, but I can’t imagine any bar being nearly as fun as spending time with my man!
