Girls, I am so upset. I have done nothing but study for this particular final for the past few days… it is the only class I have a “B” in, and it stresses me out. The final is worth 20 % of our final grade…..and I MISSED IT. I just got home, I thought it was AT 5:00, not FROM 3-5. I am so upset right now and all of the worst possibilities are running through my head…the teacher said she has to talk to her supervisor about protocol- I’m waiting for her email.
I do not even know what to do right now. I can’t believe I have done something so stupid.

Aww, I’m so sorry! I know that you are probably freaking out right now. At least she is asking what the protocol is. Hopefully they will understand and let you still take it. It’s possible they’ll let you take it and knock it down a grade. Whatever happens it will be alright in the long run I’m sure. You’re not stupid! Everyone makes mistakes 🙁

🙁 I’m sorry that this happened to you. Does your school have an office student affairs? If so, I would go talk to them and see if they will let you make-up the exam. If not, try talking to your professors regarding your mistake. I know that my school has let students take exams when they missed because they got days confused.

Oh no! I hope they let you take it. *Hugs*

@Ms.Pink: I actually did this a week ago! I am taking my classes online through Penn State and for one of them I had to call in for a teleconference. I thought it was at 7 central, but it was actually at 6 central, 7 eastern. My professor would not let me make it up so I lost the 10% of the grade that it was worth and to hit even further below the belt, the professor took off another letter grade. I feel for you sister 🙁

@SoonToBeeMrsD: Oh my goodness…that is what I am terrified of! I am so sorry! I will fail the class (or get a “D”, same difference) if they do that to me. Are you going to have to retake the class? I can’t believe he knocked it down another grade, after taking points off…. 🙁
Thanks girls…I am just so scared! I tried to go to her supervisor’s office myself but it was locked. The girl that was giving the exam is just a sub we have had for the past week, and she honestly wasn’t very helpful about it. I know its not her problem, but it took everything I had not to cry until my SO came and picked me up…(and then I LOST it!)

I would have gone straight to the doctor’s and gotten a medical certificate. Yes, it’s lying but you didn’t do it on purpose. I really, really hope that you can make it up. This is my #1 fear, so I always triple check exam times.

@Everdeen: I really wish I had done this. The girl actually asked me “can you get a note or anything?” and I stupidly told her no, I honestly just wrote the time down wrong. I have always been terrified of this too. I literally will not know what to do if I get an F in a class. My brain can’t even compute that…it would kill my GPA.

@Ms.Pink: I did this in college once. The professor was a jerk but the department head let me take it later, but starting at a 90 not 100. After everything I still wound up getting a B+ in the stupid class, but it didn’t tank my gpa. Good luck!

I know what that’s like! I had a final exam (oral exam) with two seniors who didn’t want to study because they were graduating and didn’t care. Since we didn’t study together (I studied my butt off by myself), we also didn’t reinforce the time and so I ended up missing my exam! Hopefully everything will work out for you. Good luck!

It may be ok, if you’re a good student & the teacher knows you they may be able to work with you.
I missed my final, my car broke down on Saturday (out of town) & my final was on Monday & no one would repair my car until Monday. I called & left a message with the teacher & got to take the final a few days later & they didn’t deduct any points from it :). I was SO lucky!! I don’t think they asked me for proof.
EDIT: Could you bring in your own note? Where did you write down 5 for the final? I mean, there’s a chance you could show them that? May not help, but at least you kinda have a note? Really hope they let you take it!!

@Ms.Pink: Could you get a note now anyway? Just in case they will accept it and can pretend lodge it officially with whomever? (I hope that makes sense. Basically, if she takes pity on you and let’s you take the test you can provide a doctor’s note to cover both you and her) Or as @canthugallcats: said, show where you wrote it down wrong?

OH NO!! Well dont freak out or stress to much until you know all the info and get that email. My fingers are crossed for you!!

*hugs* I sure hope you come back to update us with positive news. Hopefully your department head or regular prof will let you have a make-up. Even if there’s a penalty/grade drop on it, it’s better than nothing. I agree with PPs about showing them where you wrote it down incorrectly, to at least show that you really truly thought it was at 5.
I went to a review today, only to find out it is actually tomorrow, and the test I thought was tomorrow is actually Friday. I think finals make us all lose our minds.

If it was me, I’d totally let you retake it, as long as you’d shown yourself to be a decent student/person during the rest of the course. I deal with stuff like this all the time. Your professors have souls too! Good luck – I really hope (and believe!) it’ll work out somehow.
