I don’t know where to start looking! I feel like I am hard to size. I wear a 40 DDD/42Dear Daughter bra, and the sales lady at David’s bridal put me in a 48B!!! It obviously wasn’t tight enough around, and didn’t hold the girls up like they should be. Ugh. I am an 18 street size, and wear a XL shirt usually.
Where did you all buy your bras? I could probably go with a regular bra and my spanx, which I am considering doing, but the corset bra is just so pretty and Fiance would love to see that under my gown 🙂 here’s the dress I am wearing
Actually, now that I think about it, I’m not so sure a regular bra would work because of the back. A nude color would be best I think, and something that gives me as much cleavage as possible. I have big boobs, but they’re bottom heavy, so they don’t have cleavage unless I make it happen.

I know I don’t quite fit into this category of boobie size (I’m a big B/small C) but.. Merry Modes (you can buy them on ebay) are super comfy!

My issue is…how do I know what size to get? all these sites say to go with your band size but that never fits me! I’m not 40″ all around all over! This stuff confuses the heck out of me.

I got mine at Dillards. It was $70, but it doesn’t have any boning in the front, so it didn’t poke through my dress. It also has a scoop back, so the backfat can be tucked under the dress ^_^

I was my sister’s Maid/Matron of Honor and bought this longline bra to go with my dress:
In the store they only had a 34D and it didn’t really work…so I ended up buying a 34Dear Daughter off of eBay for about half the price and it worked great. I was pretty firmly a D at the time, though, so I’d say that it may run a cup size too small. So, if you decide to give it a try, make sure you can try it on first or the place you get it has a liberal return policy.
As for size, the 40 in your 40DDD refers to the band size, which sits below the ladies (also called the underbust), it doesn’t reflect the size you are all around all over. 🙂 Typically, you’ll take your underbust and add 4″ to come up with your band size, but widsom on this varies based on where you’re searching on the internet.
Once you come up with your band size, you then measure the fullest part of your bust and subtract your band size to come up with your cup size. Basically every 1″ increment is a larger cup size. D is typically 4″, Dear Daughter 5″, DDD 6″. So, if your bust is measuring 46″ and your band size is 40, 46-40 = 6 AKA DDD.

i totally get that, but when she put the 42 on me, I couldn’t even fasten it because it was so small! Oh, and I’m a 41″ underbust, so it depends on the bra, but either a 40 or a 42 fits me at Lane Bryant.

Hmm. It wouldn’t close anywhere? Bras are just like clothing – seems like every company has different standards and a different fit (so frustrating!).

I’m a 36DDD and feel your pain. Check out http://www.herroom.com and http://www.barenecessities.com. Great selection and detailed reviews.
I ordered the Panache Tiffany Bustier but ended up having my bra sewn into my gown. Much more comfy and looked a thousand times better with the dress I chose.
They have a good return policy so you can order multiples and just send the ones you don’t like back.

Isn’t it so hard to find a good bra when you’re plus size?! I’m also a size 18 with a large bust, so I feel you on that.
I tried a very pretty bustier through hipsandcurves.com, but it just didn’t fit quite right. They do have a really nice selection, though. In the end, I googled around and found an actual bra shop in my town. They specialized in giving proper fittings, and carried a crazy good selection of plus size bras. I highly recommend going to a specialty shop like that if you can find one, at least to get fitted and know what size you should look for.

I think I might go and get fitted for a bra at somewhere like that. There might be a shop in my town, or close by, so I will definitely go get checked out.

I 2nd herroom.com
I bought a nice Felina longline bra and it was so comfy, though I think I got the largest size- 38Dear Daughter it fit pretty well, but I had to return it due to how low tha back of my dress is. :< btw I’m a 38/40 DD/DDD so a little smaller than you, but if you order from her room they have a great return policy.

I’m a 34H, David’s put me in a 38B…um…yeah, after bringing me the C which I told them then showed them no way they said the biggest they had was Dear Daughter, I was like, how about we try that? It fit well enough to try things on. I’ve seen F’s on their website (DDD equivalent). Good luck!

I am a 38F and just ordered mine online a few days ago from Bravissimo, based on the recommendation of another bee. I just posted a thread about this a few weeks ago myself, since I need one to wear under my strapless gown for my DSD’s wedding.
I am not thrilled about having to deal with expensive international shipping and returns, but for some reason the UK companies and manufacturers seem to offer the best selection of full-figured lingerie.
This is the one I ordered. I decided to order it in three different sizes to try to make sure one would work, and I will be returning whatever does not fit.
