Hey bees –
“Veronica”, my 1998 Honda Accord, is finally ready to retire! It’s getting to the point where I am putting waaay to much money into her and I would like something new anyway.
I want something taller than a sedan. My Boyfriend or Best Friend has a crossover SUV and I like sitting up higher, so that’s what I’m looking for. He has a Toyota Highlander (I think) and he really likes it, but I want to see what else is out there. It’s so hard to tell from a test drive so I was wondering if any of you would recommend your SUV.

@SnowInApril: i test drove an Acura RDX! it was amazing and comfortable. Lots of room and awesome upgrades 🙂
Edit: my aunt recently traded in her highlander for a lexus crossover hybrid. It was more expensive becsuse of the hybrid aspect, but she said it is definately worth the money.

I have a 2008 Saturn Vue and I love it. Saturn is now defunct, but Chevy makes the exact same car, called the Captiva. Great car!
I’ve also had a Ford Escape (2002) and Jeep Liberty (2004). Escape was great, Liberty was not so much.

@OldMrsMcDonald: I’ve heard good things about Ford cars and not so good things about Jeeps. Thanks!

I would say a jeep liberty or a dodge journey. both decently priced with lots of cool features and extras. I almost bought the journey when I was thinking I was going to be practical about my purchase. I ended up not being practical though and got a charger instead lol but the journey would have been my choice had I not gotten the charger. it was roomy and comfortable and the price was amazing when I was looking.

We are looking at getting a Nissan Rogue or a Toyota Rav4. I would stay away from Ford and Chevy personally.

SO’s mom has a 2002 Highlander and I’ve driven it a fair amount- I like it. I’m more of a small car girl so parking it is scary (and I feel like SUVs are tippy- the roads around here are curvy and my little Prius C grips them perfectly and the Highlander feels a little scary) but I do love sitting up high and the seats are so comfortable. (Just don’t expect happy trips to the gas station.. I’m sure the gas mileage has improved SOME since she bought hers though.)

I don’t know if you get Kia as a brand in the US but their Sprtage is a great crossover type vehicle and they come with a seven year warranty which is great

My mom and several friends have Honda CR-Vs, various years. They all love them. I love that car too (have driven my mom’s a bunch), and will likely buy one myself when I replace my old Honda Civic next year!
