Part 2 of that 90s kind mentality is that many people feel like they’re entitled to a certain job or a certain salary. You do need a new job, but you’re going to need to work your ass off to get it. Do you have a website? Make one and get awesome business cards printed that have your URL on it. Go to functions as often as you can and then some, and meet people who do what you want to do and pass out your cards. Ask for introductions, be in the places you want to work and talk to the people you want to work with.

If you’ve been doing this already, keep at it! Step it up, redesign your site,  update your portfolio, etc. I’m a recruiter, I work for a global media company, but I’ve also recruited artists, musicians and designers for the entertainment industry…creative openings are so much harder to come upon, but the people who eventually come into these positions are he ones that worked the hardest to even get an interview.

@OneOfTheseDaysAlice:  Not my intention at all. I’m of your generation. Good luck with your job search.

You make your own path. Those ladies are there because they lacked the momentum and willingness to get out. If it’s what you want, you’ll make it happen.

Everything happens for a reason….stick with it until something bigger comes along. It will pay off 🙂
