jaimeert :  Your ring is gorgeous.  The center stone color is distinc, modern and feminine and the setting reminds me of  a Heidi Gibson. ring  Could you tell me who made your setting? I have a very light pink marquise that I would love to set in a similar style.

OP, so glad you went w a sapphire. Looks great.

SmartCookie1 :  I’ve seen a bunch of sapphires in person and diamonds and a few moissanites. For sapphires, how sparkly they are depends. Sapphires can be extremely sparkly and lively (mine is)- it just depends on the stone. My favorite 3 sapphires are the one my Fiance got me (a light yellow/green/blue colorchanger), a brown/rose/purple colorchanger, and a blue/green colorchanger that throws off yellow fire. They are all so sparkly, it’s mesmerizing.

It isn’t always easy to tell in pics (but I’ve accidentally snapped quite a few w the “bling” sparkle flash like a cartoon), but so obvious in person. I think it tends to be more natural (unheated, untreated) sapphires that have this fire. And they cost more. This is part of why it’s often better to shop for loose sapphire stones from businesses that have a large stock of sapphires and/or will bring in more for you. Then get the stone set after.

I’m not sure if the more common darker blue princess Di type sapphires are sparkly or not, I haven’t personally seen one that is.
