- Wedding: June 2012
Well bees, I’m at that magic moment two months out from the wedding when … well … I have nothing to do. Invitations are sent; I can’t make escort cards until I get the RSVPs back and can finalize the seating chart; as far as I know, all vendor arrangements are squared away … in short, I’m bored! Add to that the fact that Fiance is leaving this Sunday for a 3-week TDY out of state, and I’m looking at a lot of extra free time with nothing to keep my hands busy! So I’m thinking I need another DIY project to occupy me.
The question is what? I don’t think there’s really anything I NEED per se … just a few ideas of things that I could maybe do, but I’d love some ideas or guidance from you crafty queens.
Idea 1: the aisle? The florist asked what I wanted as far as aisle decorations, and I basically said I want cheap and simple since the wedding is small and the ceremony will be short, so why spend a bunch of dough just to decorate the aisle? I said I wanted single roses on each of the inside chairs, and then just a ribbon connecting the chairs and marking the aisle. I’m also going to wind together some tulle in our wedding colors to lay on the ground and mark the sides of the aisle instead of rose petals. Perhaps I could DIY a more interesting aisle decoration? Something to go with the single roses that I asked for already?
Idea 2: Programs. I wasn’t going to do this, because it seemed really unnecessary for our small wedding and small wedding party. But maybe I can make something simple and cool that people will enjoy, even though they don’t actually need any of the information in it?
Idea 3: My shoes. I just bought the Willow from David’s Bridal, which is a silver wedge sandal with some rhinestones on top. I didn’t care much about my shoes, since my dress is going to cover them and I’m not really a shoe person to begin with. But maybe it wouldn’t hurt to jazz them up a little for that inevitable these-are-my-shoes picture?
Idea 4: Bridesmaid hairpieces? I can glue shit to other shit like a champ, and I wonder if some sort of cute hair comb with small silk flowers to match their outfits would go over well? There’s only 3 BMs so this wouldn’t really be like slave labor for me.
Idea 5: cross stitch something? I don’t know how to cross stitch, but I bet I could learn it pretty easily. And then cross stitch something really super cool, like the “[Our names] Wedding —>” sign that I haven’t got and wasn’t planning on getting. Frame that bitch up and presto, looking sharp!
Wow I guess I do have a few ideas! Any thoughts from you hardcore DIYers on which is most likely to be worth my time?? Ideas for how to go about any of these projects?
