(Closed) I need Advice about pale yellow mother’s dress

Buy it! Its beautiful...who cares if its almost ivory

Buy it! Its only $100 and keep looking

Buy it! It can be dyed to _________ color

No Way! Is your mother crazy? She shouldn't wear something so close to a bridal gown

In the photo it looks pretty antiquey/yellow. It distinctly looks a shade of yellow on my monitor. However, you could always ask the bridal salon if it’s dyable if it’s a concern. If it really bugs you and think it’s too close to yours and/or people will gossip, you may have to look for another MOB dress. Have you seen it next to an ivory gown?

Personally I think you’re okay. I’ve seen ivory gowns before and they all look pretty white to me. The color of the dress I’m seeing is not close enough to ivory for it to wash you out or look too similiar.

And if anything, your mom can always comment, “Thanks, Chillybear helped me pick it out!” and I guess people can just assume anyways, but if they know you have a good relationship (i have the same kind of one with my mom, who almost got a champagne dress. i could’ve cared less. i advised my mom towards red so she stood out a little more, as my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses were pink champagne) they’ll probably think it was chosen on purpose. It seems a lot of MOB dresses are a super soft color, or champagne, anyways.

Edit: By The Way, HOT DRESS! I love it! The cap sleeves are darling.

On my screen it appears to be more ivory. It looks like an informal wedding gown to me… so I would suggest dye, if you want to stand out the most. Its a gorgeous gown for $100, but perhaps better suited for a younger woman? But really it depends on your mom’s looks. 🙂

On my screen it looks almost ivory.  However, I have seen the Bagdley yellow in person and it does not look like ivory in real life at all more like a pale yelow.  Could you contact your photographer and ask?  My only concern is the photos.

I think it would look better with a (colored) jacket for photos.  It really only matters what you think, but I do think guests might find it odd, as it does like bridal.

My mom found her dress on ebay of all places, and it looked AMAZING!  It was from a lady who wore it 1x on a cruise, so super cheap, and my mom already knew that designer in that size fit her well.

The dress is beautiful but it looks so close to a wedding dress in my opinion, and I’d probably avoid it (or see if could be dyed)! If you are happy with it though, then she should wear it! My mom wore a dress that was white with gold on it that I helped her pick out. But, since it was short, it wasn’t that strange.

What about adding a colored wrap/shawl?  It really does fit her nicely!!

It does look like it’s a lot less of a saturated yellow than the professional picture. I can see your concern.  The dress is really pretty, how about adding a beautiful colored sash or something with a side flower?  Like a sand color?

Do you know what year the dress is from? And is it a Spring or Fall?
