@radar:  I think you’d have better luck if you posted this in the local boards or indicated where your wedding is located. Or are you just looking for generic ideas?

@radar: You could do a wine tour or hot air balloon ride (or both!) in Temecula.

I think a road trip to Monterey via PCH would be really fun. You could also go to Vegas for a few days since it’s a really short/cheap flight from where you’re having your wedding.

So Cal is large area. There’s a lot to do in LA, OC, and SD so you can still stay in So Cal without necessarily staying in the same area as your wedding.

@radar:  I’m in SoCal, too. There are so many wineries in SoCal! From Temecula as mentioned to Ojai to Napa. Another option is Catalina Island. You can book a suite with a view and enjoy each other and the shops and restaurants or explore the small island, etc. I love going there. Cabo is always just a two hour flight, too if leaving the country is an option. I’d suggest Vegas but I don’t know if that’s not what you are thinking. I also know that there are some beautiful resorts in Arizona!

if you stay at places from airbnb.com it is super cheap! and look for cheap airfare and you’re set. We went to new york for a week and stayed at a place off Airbnb. It had a kitchen, wifi, TV, super central location and only cost $700 for 7 nights for 2 of us. Our airfare was $300/person. So for under $1300 we spend a week in one of the most expensive cities in the US.!

OR some last minute cruises can be cheap, or all inclusives to mexico.

I agree with the 3 or 4 day Mexican Riviera cruise. Ensenada and Catalina, out of Long Beach.

You can do that for around $349.00 per person.

Within the US, Chicago is always a great weekend getaway.  Lots of nonstop flights from all over the country due to both UA and AA being hubbed there. Great nightlife, lots of culture, fun stuff to do on the lake, and oh my word the food!  One of my favorite cities anywhere. Good public transportation, plus the Shedd Aquarium is a great way to spend a day.
