What’s a Chinese gift exchange?

@regberadaisy: I think it is the like a white elephant exchange where people can “steal” gifts after they are opened but unlike a white elephant exchange, the gifts are not supposed to be gag gifts.

OP – How about making somekind of a small basket?  Like a movie basket with a couple of movies, a few bags of popcorn, candy, etc?  Or a wine basket with a couple wine bottles, a fun bottle stopper, and a wine bottle cooler?

Or maybe a fun board game or two?  A nice bottle of whatever type of alcohol your family prefers?

Once I did a box of those little chocolates filled with liquor and a few lottery tickets………..the gift was grabbed so many times I lost count!  They were under $20 and I think I found them at Sams club.

We do that with my family too. This year I got Mad Men Season 1 and 2 on DVD and I’m going to include 2 cheap martini glasses and some cocktail mix.

Last year I did the Starbucks travel mug with the hot chocolate mix.

This year I am thinking of regifting something I got from last year white elephant which was a Christmas cake plate and serving knife with possibly a voucher for some homemade goods at a later date.

I really wanted to get the M&M dispenser for this year exchange because it is so cute but our limit is $5. So hard to get something for under $5.

@pinky44: Especially if it’s for a FAMILY swap. It would be super cute! You could include some popcorn and cocoa too.
