I’m having a very difficult time choosing a dress! Almost every dress I’ve tried on is a ballgown because I’m getting married in a castle & thought I needed to wear something princessy. I haven’t really liked any dresses until the other day I tried on something completely different & I like how the style looked on me way more than ballgowns but I don’t know if its right for a castle wedding.
Heres where I’m getting married
And here’s the dress I like
but this is my mom’s favorite…
Should I pick the dress that looks good on me or one that looks good in the castle?

None of the pictures loaded! But I say pick a dress you love. A castle!?!? Where is this castle!

Sorry! I’ve never posted on here before but I think I fixed the picture problem.
The castle is in Versailles, Kentucky
Thank you so much for your advice!

I had no idea we had castles in Kentucky hahah! I see why the ball gown is more castle-y, but I think the dress you love and feel good in is why more important! Just my opinion Your wedding is going to be awesome, hands down. No one is going to look at you and go “man, that’s not a castle dress.” Haha

I dont think a wedding dress has to “match” the venue. Just wear the one you love. It’s a wedding dress, youre the bride, it’s going to look great no matter where you are!

I think the one you like is fancier than the ballgown your mom likes.

I think you should definitely get the first dress that you love! It is formal and appropriate, and you should feel beautiful on your wedding day!
Go for the first one.

With all due respect, it’s your wedding not your mom’s. Pick the dress you love.
P.S. I like the one you picked better anyway :o)

Thank you all so much for your opinions I really appreciate it! I guess I was thinking the dress should match the venue but Im going to try on the one I like best again and get it if I still like it. Thanks again!

- Wedding: August 2012 - Historic Lougheed House
You could add a realllyyyyyy long cathedral veil to the first dress, to make it more “princess” looking. I think your Mom would probably love that idea actually!
I like the 1st dress better honestly.

I think the first dress is very regal and elegant. Just because it isn’t a ballgown doesn’t mean it doesn’t fit with the castle wedding. The fabric is so rich and the train is quite dramatic. It’s also much more sophisticated. The second dress feels very young to me. It sure is princessy, but your choice is queenly and stately. Go with your heart.
