It’s totally doable! My dress of regret was $300 from DB. There is also a large dress sale, Brides Against Breast Cancer, and I tried on many dresses under $300. They are pre owned dresses, but as you said, they’ve only been worn once. Also check FB for wedding resale groups (or garage sale groups) around you. There are two in my area and I’ve seen MANY MANY dress for sale.

@rosegoldie:

I got my dress for $230 from DB & my budget was $300-400 (including alteration).  It’s totally do-able! 🙂

@rosegoldie:  Someone already mentioned it, but I got my dress on preownedweddingdresses.com.  If you see a dress you like, try talking to a bride, even if it is over budget.  I got the person I bought it from to come down $150, paid $350 for a $1700+ dress and it was cleaned.

Let’s not forget Church Street Bridals on Facebook – I got a pristine Alita Graham from Kleinfeld’s sample gown on the cheap that I ordered via phone.  They shipped the same day.

I may not wear it – this is the third gown I purchased.  (FabulousU disaster gown that is shoddy, and I panicked while waiting for my zip-up DaVinci to come in – it is supposed to be here tomorrow leaving me two weeks for alterations).  I wanted to have a dress in my possession just in case.

My dress was $400. I love it and can’t wait to wear it. I looked under ‘special occasion dresses’ or ‘evening/formal dresses’. There were so many choices for wonderful dresses.

It’s a Tadashi Shoji. I bought it online from a store in New Jersey called District 5 Boutique. It was on sale for $100 off the designer regular price.

I looked up preowned bridal shops in my area bc like you I couldn’t bring myself to spend $1200 on a dress ill wear one day, and found an awesome little consignment shop that sells wedding and prom dresses. My dress is actually a pageant dress but it’s absolutely perfect and it was only $225!! I so love it I would def recommend looking into pageant/prom dresses some look really bridal! See if Brides Against Breast Cancer is having a sale near you! I got my dress for $200 AND I got to claim it on my taxes as a charitable donation, lol.

I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a dress nor did I care to try a bunch of dresses on. I found a dress on powd.com. Dealing with the seller was super easy and my sister lived nearby so she could see the dress in person.
