@TRM: Welcome to wedding bee!

E-Party – engagement party – usually thrown by friends or family and used to officially announce and engagement party

Bridal Shower – thrown by the bridal party to shower the bride with things that she will need to start her new life

Bachelorette – the big party night for you and your friends, kind of the last horrah for the single lady.

marthastewart weddings.com has some great stuff that will help you.  Check out their checklist and that should point you in the right direction.

good luck

@TRM: Have them all or none or any mix.  If you want the whole bridal/wedding experience go for them all.  It really depends on what you want.

@TRM: Welcome to the WB!

You can have any/some/none, whatever type of engagement/wedding you and your Fiance (fiance/future intended) want to do. Generally, the parties aren’t hosted by you or your parents (maybe the e-party) but are instead thrown by your friends/bridal party.

Our e-party was a surprise party thrown by our friend the night Mr.ND proposed (he’d told everyone under the sun and they kept the secret!). I think my Maid/Matron of Honor (Maid/Matrons of Honor) are hosting a bach party and shower for me, but that’s up to them.

Browse the hive, there is a ton of info on here 🙂 Happy planning!
