I’m in a bit of a predicament, hopefully you bees can help me out.
I’m looking at a specific setting, which can be found here. https://www.instagram.com/p/BQwMGiGB4mf/ . I’ve been chatting with both MoissaniteCo and My Moissanite Inc, and they both have agreed to a very similar price on the ring.
Here is another video showing them off side by side. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmfP9Ow22uw
I can’t decide if I want to go with an Oval 9×7 Forever One in that setting, or a 9×6 Oval Harro Gem. Both I’m sure would be beautiful, but after browsing on the forums here, I can’t seem to make up my mind. The Harro gem from what I gather is very diamond-like, and the cuts are beautiful, while the Forever One has larger facets which some people don’t seem to like compared to the Harro Gem.
Some people here have mentioned they wish they knew about Harro Gem before their Forever One, I’m just uncertain since MoissaniteCo has SO many reviews compared to the smaller but still mentioned My Moissanite Inc. From what I understand, both of these would be a custom order, and so a refund is not applicable.

I know there are posters with both so I’m sure they’ll be of help! I haven’t seen the Harro Gem in person but I have seen the Forever One oval and it was gorgeous. I don’t know how important it is for your stone to be diamond-like; in my honest opinion this was not. It had the pie line cut, but I thought it was beautiful and sparkly, very clear and colourless but with flashes of colour. It’s very pretty but different.
I’ve seen Harro Gem ovals in pictures and they look more diamond-like with the bubbly, crushed ice appearance. But I’ve seen multiple posters who have seen them say that they’re not that sparkly (not my words, and I don’t know if people who own those stones agree with that). I could believe it because it’s not really an optimal cut for moissanite. But I think the pictures are lovely.

Thanks for the reply!
I’ve actually heard similar things about how sparkly the harro gems were. I believe a bee on here posted a video of her Harro cut and it looked nice in the video, and they do in the video I linked as well.
The problem is that I’m not sure how it looks outside or not under super fantastic lighting. Plenty of people around here have F1’s so there’s a ton of reference, while there’s few and far between for the other choice.

how white or colorless do you want your gem to be? if you want no color.. go with the f1. But it looks chalk white to me. The harro has more flare to it.

None of the oval moissy are really a dead-match for diamonds. But, of them, I think the Harro is the closest in cut. But, to favorite hand’s down is the jyb’s oval
RE: Your Setting. The video of the setting does not properly show a side view, but it looks like the head is soldered to the band at one location — all four prong come to one narrow location and they don’t seem to wrap around the sides. That is driven by the band being too thin. A pave band needs to be 1.9-2mm or you will have too much metal flexing and the diamonds will be insecture. Below are setting that show much better attachment of the head to the band. Lots of way to execute this, but there needs to be more and better attachment of the head ot the band.

I have the crushed ice oval harro gem. I chose it because i don’t care for the faceting of the F1 oval. Plus I like that I could get a skinnier oval! If you end up going with the harro we will pretty much be ring twins, my setting is very similar to the one your getting and mine stone is also 9×6!

do you have any pictures handy that I could see? The one in your profile picture looks amazing!

I would love a harro gem but every time I see pictures of them the cut isn’t consistent, and neither is colour. BellaBees is by far the prettiest I’ve ever seen, but I would hate to have one cut to my dimensions and not have it turn out exactly like I’d imagine it. At least C&C are consistent.

Not sure if this helps, as mine is a C&C 5×7 F1, near colorless, and it’s loose……but hey….it might help some

I think it depends on your preference. I know a lot of people prefer the Harro, but I rather like the faceting of the C&C oval!

This is my 9×6.5 D-E crushed ice harro – I just received it and it’s gorgeous! I have to admit it is a bigger center Stone than I was anticipating and I am actually looking to sell it. Sadly I’m afraid it will not fit my lifestyle and I know it will live in my jewelery box if I keep it. It was custom so returning it is not an option for me. It is stunning though!

I have a recently purchased 2.5 carat F1 Round Hearts and Arrow and I’m so bothered by the gray cast. I’m seriously considering replacing it with either an Amora Gem or a Harro round brilliant. Does anyone know whether these stones go cold or gray when aren’t in direct outdorr sunlight like the f1? I can’t stand to look at it in the shade or in indirect light (or inside) because its so icy and gray that I find it looks like plastic. Any suggestions?

I got the moissaniteco brand which I believe is cut the same as the forever one and I love it! I did want a fatter oval from the get go tho. It’s super sparkly and pretty and wasnt expensive.

I heard from a jeweler that owns an Amora said it does go gray at night. Crazy! They aren’t cheap either. LOL
I haven’t done a ton of research on the Harro rounds, but I’ll likely go with the NEO diamond cut. Another suggestion is to ask jewelers who are familiar with moissanite to recommend a brand. They are lucky enough to see several brands, cuts, shapes and colors so why not utilize that to your advantage? 🙂

If you have a colourless (D-E-F) try a near colourless (G-H-I) – it’s less likely to have that steely grey colour. I have an E colour IF Amora Gem Ultra and it sometimes looks too icy – I think that G-H is probably best in delivering a colourless looking stone without that grey-blue tinge.
