We are buying our first house and get posession of it this week! (SO EXCITING!)
The color of our current bedroom is dark red and I love it but I dont think I wanna do the entire room red again in our new house. Our new bedroom is about double the size of our old one! There are two little windows on the wall where our headboard is going to be (so the headboard will be between the windows). I was thinking that we could maybe do the window wall a different color than the other 3 but Im worried that I wont pick colors that match!
Our current decor for our bedroom is black. Black picture frames. Black shelves. Black dressers (well, theyll be black eventually!). I thougth black went really well with the red that our walls are in our current bedroom. Our bedding is gray.
I was thinking maybe we could do the window wall a dark red or deep purple or deep pink. And then the other 3 walls would be a darker gray? Im not sure how that would look though so if anyone else has any suggestions, give em to me!
Also, we now have a walk-in closet. Do we paint the walk in closet walls as well? Im so dense! Haha.

Actually it’s not a bad idea to paint the inside of the closet the same color as the wall it’s on, but not a necessity!
Pick up some of those free color strips from a hardware store – the ones that come with 3 or 4 colors on a strip, and stick them on your wall. You can basically use the darkest color on the strip for your “accent” wall with the windows, and pick a lighter greyed-out color for the other walls. If you pick colors from the same strip, they’re guaranteed to match, because they have the same color hues.
Good luck and congrats on the new home!

I think a deep color on your accent wall would look nice. Maybe not the deep pink though, would your Darling Husband really want to sleep in a pink room? (I know it’s not fair, I had to do our guest room in bright pink and orange to satisfy my color urges:) I’ve seen closests painted and some not. I think it depends on how much of the closet you can see with the clothes hanging in it. I mean if you only see a foot of wall at the top then it would be a waste of money to paint the whole thing. What kind of head board do you have? I’m thinking if you paint the wall a deep wine color and your bedding is grey it would be really fun to do a fabric covered headboard in a fun pattern with the wine and grey colors in it and it would bring in some texture. Check out this headboard and see how it bring texture into the room, but isn’t overbearing:
Anyway…. I think a deep wine color would really look nice and and then on the other walls you could lighten it back up with a cream or soft linen color. Then throughout the room do wine and cream colored accents. Edit: When I say cream I mean like a dark cashmere cream… not a candy cane cream!!!!!!

What about tan? You could do the dark red behind the bed and tan on the other 3 walls (contrary to what many believe, black and tan are lovely together.) – or vice versa. Dark pink would look great with tan, too. For some reason, I feel tan is a warmer color than gray… which would be more appropriate for a bedroom.

Our MB has a deep plum shade on the far wall (where bed is at) and the other three walls are a lighter lilac color. We picked them out of one of the books.
