I think this has been the hardest decision I had to make so far because I am a hairstylist who specializes in bridal so I am putting a lot of pressure on myself with this…
What did you wear or plan on wearing? Was it a veil or something else? I have attached photos of me with my dress on and a photo of my bridal hair inspiration. What do you bees think? Why did you pick what you wore or plan on wearing? I have thought about a birdcage veil, no veil and then also a regular veil. Thoughts? I am really torn and my bridesmaids say that they love all 3 choices.

Have you tried some veils? I always thought I wanted a veil but when I was trying on dresses the consultant put a couple on me and I hated them, so now I’m leaning toward no veil. If you haven’t already I would find somewhere to try on some different veils and see what you like on you.
Also, think about matching the overall vibe of the wedding. If you are going for a more traditional look then a regular veil would be good. Vintage, birdcage veil. Modern, no veil or maybe a shorter regular veil.

I agree with the previous poster! Love your inspiration pic. I actually wore a hairpiece like that and a veil over it…Super cute because you could still see the bling from the hairpiece through the veil. Made it easy when I took the veil off for the reception.

Hairpiece + whichever veil you choose. I love the look of both together and then you still have something lovely after you move the veil. I think with your gown I would go with something mid length. I always think you will (hopefully) never get a chance to go full veil again!

I think a finger tip veil would look beautiful with the hair style and Clip xx

Thanks Bees!! I am going to go try on veils in a few weeks. I tried on some when I got the dress, but my hair was down, and I just wasn’t “feeling” them at the time. I am going to try and get my trial for my hair and then go try on veils with my dress. Or at least have it pulled back this time.

Hi! You look lovely in your dress. I am not a fan of birdcage veils at all and I don’t think that style would do much justice to your dress. It’s a proper wedding dress and I think of birdcage veils as something you’d wear with a tea dress or a less formal dress or to be worn by the alternative/tattooed kind of bride. Your dress needs a veil. With no veil at all, it won’t look finished and you won’t feel as bridal. You don’t need to wear it all day but please wear one…at least for the ceremony!
I can’t advise on hairstyles but I like the one you’ve posted and it looks like your thick hair would suit it.

Ooh! I LOVE your hair inspiration pic! I think you will look amazing!
As for veils, there have been some exceptions to this based on the specific bride and her hairstyle and gown choice, but, far more often than not, I recommend a single-layer, raw-edge, cathedral-length veil. This is what you’ll often see as the last step in styling a bride on SYTTD NY and Atlanta, because it provides such a sheer, beautiful (often breathtaking!), finished look.

How about both? Veil for ceremony and some photos and birdcage for reception. You could even take the birdcage off at some point during the reception and essentially have the effect of all three ideas.

I am wearing a fingertip length veil for the ceremony and pictures but taking it out for the reception. BUt if you try on veils with your hairup and still don’t like it, I say no veil

Wear both! That is what I am doing. I am only wearing the veil for the ceremony and photos right after. This is your only chance to wear a veil, you may regret it if you don’t.
Your dress is very simple and I think the veil would compliment it nicely. I would go with something simple like just tulle if you are including the sparkly hairpiece.

I did veil AND hairpiece. Wore them both for ceremony and pictures, and took the veil out for some pics and the reception. I think my hairstyle was kind of similar to your inspiration.
This was my trial with my SIL’s veil, and then this is on the day (Excuse my incredibly messy hair in the no veil one, we had crazy gale force winds on our wedding day)

That’s my plan too. I will be wearing it almost the same way as well. Totally different hairpiece though.
