Hi there Bees!
I’m hoping you can give me some ideas. I am having trouble thinking of a theme for my wedding (the venue has not been chosen yet which is my main problem I think as I cannot envision what the day will look like without knowing the venue). It is going to be a wedding by the beach in Thailand.
I’m not keen on a nautical/beachy theme, but still want it to suit being by the beach (does that make sense?)
Bridesmaids will be in champagne coloured dresses if that makes a difference?
Thanks in advance!

I dont think you need a theme. A beach in Thailand is pretty awesome on it’s own!

My friend is getting married in Ocean City, and our Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses are a light turqoiuse, so that is the predominant color in the wedding, and she loves starfish. So things like the invitations and table #s will have starfish on them. Do maybe go that way; a certian beachy flower, animal, seashell, sandollar, etc.
Are you Christian and pretty religious? If so, there is a bonus to using sandollars.
My cousin is very Catholic, and she made sandollar cookies and candies, and on the packaging she attached the poem on the above website.

Okay first of all, I am swimming with jealousy. I’ve always wanted to go to Thailand.
Maybe you could find a native-to-Thailand flower and make that your “theme”? They have some gorgeous and unique flowers there!

I’m doing a beach wedding in Cancun, Mexico and our theme is Starfish. Our cake has starfish on it, our programs are a 5 petal fan with an aqua-colored starfish graphic, and we have starfish logos on all of our stationary, place cards, table numbers, etc….Our wedding favors are silver starfish bottle openers/paperweights and as my gift to the bridesmaids, I bought them all silver crystal starfish chokers and starfish earrings to wear on the wedding day. I will also be wearing matching starfish earrings. Sounds like a lot of starfish everywhere but it’s actually not, it’s very beachy but the theme is cute and it fits in perfectly with the locale.
Other themes we were considering were palm trees, flip flop theme, coconuts, and orchids.

I’m doing a wedding in the beach in Florida – a very secluded area. I think simplicity is the best. However, if you want a theme, do a “Romance by the Ocean” and adorn your wedding site with flowers and other decorations, native to the island including a floral archway and aisle stand with candles and flowers. Perhaps some tall vases down the aisle filled with shells, and branches. Add red lanterns at your archway and down the aisle on shepard’s hooks.
Give your guests a rattan fan with your ceremony program printed on 5×7″ cards attached with a ribbon. Do a mix of bright and soft colors with pops of red native to the island.

@jls01uk: Hi there, we are getting married in Koh Phangan, how about you?
I am not going with a theme anymore, I have taken @Bostongrl25 advice. Thailand is natually beautiful and that is one of the reasons we love it. I will have lots of flowers and candles and keep it very simple.
It just looks beautiful in photos I have seen.

If you really do want a theme without going all-out beachy or nautical, I like the idea of a “natural beach chic” vibe, like this:
It’ll look great with your champagne colored dresses and still tie in some beachy elements, while letting your gorgeous natural setting shine through!
