Ok girls, I am really hoping you can help me out! I cannot decide on a theme no matter what I do! I’m getting married down on the beach. It’s not on the sand, it’s on a grassy area overlooking the water. The isle is outlined by trees. It’s gorgeous! The reception is at the Hilton, so the ballroom is going to look verrrry fancy.
I am not a very serious romantic person so I wanted to go with more of a relaxed and laid back theme, but the ballroom is too formal, I just can’t. Any ideas? I’m seriously struggling here! Thank you!!! 🙂
oh I also forgot to mention I LOVE pastels and wanted my girls and guys to be non-formal….short bridesmaids dresses and the guys not in jackets, but vests and sperrys or something of that sort. Ok I have said enough 🙂

It’s perfectly acceptable for your theme to be “wedding”.
You may do better to think of like 5 words you like to associate with the look of the wedding.
For me, I got married in a garden with a conservatory room reception. So, it kind of lent itself to a “garden party” and I wanted it to feel “fresh”, “whimsical”, “natural’, “summery” and a little “preppy”.

Do you have a photo of the venue you could attach for us to see? I think that you can down play the formal part with your pastels and still make it beautiful and laid back.

I agree with the other posters. Also as you look at bridal magazines and websites, what kinds of things do you see yourself drawn towards? Do you and your Fiance have any hobbies, or does he like something you can incorporate? Although we had a theme and atmosphere, I still used some sport team paraphanelia in the wedding day, and it all came together because it was about US. Some pics of the venue would be great!
