I really need some help with color schemes. I am not exactly sure what I want. I know that I want something elegant…not sure if that helps at all. I am always leaning towards a deep purple color, but then I second guess myself. How did you choose your colors? And please share pics! I am not a very visual person, which makes this so much harder for me so I need pictures. haha
I’m not sure where the wedding will be at this point…I’m just trying to narrow down some options to make planning easier. (If you read my posts before you will know that I am not yet engaged but my boyfriend told me he will be proposing sometime this winter if things go the way he is hoping at work and then we will have a short engagement so we are planning some details before being officially engaged.)I am really hoping it will work out to have the wedding in a vineyard, but if that doesn’t work out it will probably be outdoors somewhere else – not sure where yet.
I know I don’t want black and red or anything with pink. No offense to anyone who used those colors.:) It’s just not my style for my wedding.
Thanks so much for all of your help! You ladies are awesome!

@OneLuckyGirl19: Check out these websites:
Scroll down on the right, click on one of your favorite colors, e.g. purple, and see all the palettes they have developed using that color.
Click on palette search, play around with the” search by color value” tool till you get the color you want, then click on Go Get It to see their palettes.

In my opinion, a deep purple would look nice with dak green and a warm brown… and that would be fun tie-in with the vineyard.

@OneLuckyGirl19: My colors were chamagne and turquoise because I absolutely LOVE those colors (they are my favorite). We got married in October so acccent colors were easy to choose! Fall is a colorful time of year 🙂
If you want something elegant then maybe some eggplant and gold
If you want something intimate eggplant and burnt orange
If you want something fun eggplant and yellow or lime green

@OneLuckyGirl19: Let’s see it another way : what’t the ambiance, atmosphere you’d like your wedding to be and look like on pictures ? And we can work from there to help you choose a palette that will reflect that.
For example, if you say you want it to be playful and dynamic, I might suggest a complementary color, such as a yellow accent color to go with the shade of purple you want :
If you want a more elegant (and formal) atmosphere, more classical yet modern, I’d go with contrasting colors, and you can’t go wrong with black and white :
If you want something more romantic or vintage, I’d use a shade of purple that’s lighter, because this ambiance goes well with pastels colors and ivory :
Hope this helps 🙂

white, black & pink.
We close these colors based on fi’s fav color [black], my fav color [pink] and white to bring everything together.
So our main colors are white & black, with a pink accent color.
Here is our table inspiration :

My fiance and I decided together. It was probably something that we took about 5 minutes deciding. Our colors are purple and yellow. My fiance liked yellow because it reminds him of me, and purple is my other favorite color and my college alma mater color, and he likes purple too. I like bright yellow, and we settled on plum/eggplant purple (like you are looking at) after picking out Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses (it looked great on my girls).

Wow! Thank you everyone! This is so helpful!
@NauticalDisaster – I can’t decide which “feel” I want for the wedding. I love vintage a lot and that is what I will probably go with. But I also really like modern/elegance.

I would wait until you pick a venue, honestly. Some venues are fairly blank slates, but some are definitely not–and you don’t want mint green, baby blue and silver on red and orange hotel carpet 😀
If you are 100% committed to an outdoor wedding, you can’t lose with all white, blush, or shades of blue.

@EffieTrinket – Thank you for the suggestion!:) I’m 99.9% sure that I will not have the wedding or reception at a hotel. I have looked at a lot of venues in the area and have them narrowed down.
I won’t be ordering anything in any colors until I have the venue booked, but since I am a really indecisive person I’m narrowing down the color options as well. 🙂
Thank you everyone for the feedback! You’re really helping me not be so overwhelmed. 🙂

@OneLuckyGirl19: I love deep purple and it sounds interesting with the deep brown a PP mentioned.
For our colors we were going to go fall brown, a burnt orange, cream colors, but ended up not finding possible dates in the fall. We really want his brothers family to be there and it was not possible in September with kids and 2000 miles. They would have missed school and that is more important.
So we changed to summer and I wasn’t ok with those colors then so was thinking deep purple, silver, black. Fiance doesn’t like purple so that was a NO.
We are going with royal blue, pewter and black. We compromised. Ha, go figure that would be one of the things he wanted major input on.

I had so much trouble myself, but I went with my gut reaction. I also went to Michael’s, Jo Ann’s, any fabric place and went to the section with the thread (like what you would make bracelets out of when you were younger) and I pulled out my favorite shade of coral (purple for you) and just played around with them. It’s good to see everything in real life.…
….hope it helps. it was constantly changing for me too but the more I worked with it, I loved it more!!…
