I guarentee you the florist who did this used a foam floral ball that just sat on top of the vase.

You can buy the foam balls for those.  They soak in water and then you cut the flowers short and stick the stems to hide them.  Any flower place would have them or you can buy them on the internet.

You just need to make sure that the top of the vase flares out slightly so that the ball can fit snuggly. It will be more likely to fall if all the flowers are off centered, but the weight of the flowers essentially holds the centerpiece in place. I have done this several times for friends parties and showers as centerpieces and have never had an issue. If you are worried about them falling out of the top of the vase. Adhere small strips of double sided wall mounting tape to the to of the vase that will help to secure the foam ball, but personally, I don’t think you need to worry about that

@ktisthatbees: It won’t topple over, unless the ball is huge 🙂 You’ll be fine with a smaller sphere, and once the water is soaked in the weight will keep it from rolling off the top.

My whole family is florists and they did the arrangements for my shower like that. they had a dish on top of the vase

The tall vase also needs to be filled with something water/ beads or it WILL tip over

i agree with everyone…they are most likely using a floral ball. my centerpieces are very similar and that is what we are using.

The dish doesnt need to fit in. Just on top flowers will cover it.

they used something like this and glued it onto the vase

@bblove04:

I just looked at Save-On-Crafts for the floral foam holders-and it says not to use them for anything over 20″-so I would just go with the foam spheres and make sure that everything is weighted down enough 🙂
