I was also going to say it looks like a Monique Lhuillier!  Maybe you could look into ordering a similar design wholesale from Pearl’s Place?

I think it is that Monique one, so great find!  Plus, it looks like they dropped their asking price so it’s only 1K!  If I were you and that’s the dress you wanted, I would go for it!

Would you consider a simpler strapless dress with a lace bolero as an alternative? I don’t have any specifics in mind, but it might add up to less cost.

Can you find a strapless one you love then have the lace sleeves added on by a seamstress? That dress is absurdly gorgeous, by the way. But, I agree, $1400 is a lot for a dress!

The silouette on that is a t-shirt sleeve gown I believe. What about a temple-ready gown (i believe those are more covered up than others) and then you can have it altered to the sleeve length you want? that might be more of a modest option but perhaps too modest.

Here are a few I found. I recommend finding the "real" maker of these, though.

I think that Marisa made or makes a very similar design, and they are usually significantly less than the Monique Lhuillier dresses (although I’m not sure the price on this specific gown), but use high quality alencon lace.

You might look for a store that sells Marisa dresses in your area, and see what they have in stock.  I think that design is a few seasons old, too, so you might find a used one on ebay or craigslist (Style number 611J).

I feel your pain about not liking strapless- I was also opposed to it, but found a gorgeous, non-strapless dress.

Good luck!
