I think it looks very diamond like!!! I couldn’t tell the difference at all. And I think it’s a great size on your long fingers – it looks perfect actually.

It’s a beautiful ring. Most anyone who can tell it is a moissy, typically has a love or at least respect for the stone. I feel like people get a little too caught up in being worried that a moissy is a “fake,” when it’s not, it has its own identity, just as say, a white sapphire might.

LuluBee1 : As others have said, your ring is beautiful and you can certainly wear it with great pride and happiness!

I have a 1.8 ct moissanite set into a halo- it’s a pretty big, sparkly ring. Three jewelers so far have been fooled by my moissy. They have a little machine that you touch to the stone that is supposed to tell them if it is a real diamond or not. These machines always say that my stone is a diamond! To be honest it kind of annoys me because I love the meteorite story (and the sparkle!) behind the moissanite and proudly tell anyone who asks me if it is “real.” I love telling my fellow science nerd friends all about the moissy’s higher refractive index.

Fiance and I embrace the moissy so much that we are getting his band with a meteorite stripe on it so that our rings “match.” People do get nosy sometimes and ask, but I figure that if the stone is good enough to fool even the jewelers then my telling people all about it (only if they ask, of course) might encourage people to look into this awesome stone for themselves!

LuluBee1 :  it’s beautiful! I’m glad you are happy with your ring! I was in the same situation, kept trying to get myself to go with moissanite, but I think I’ll be much happier with a diamond! Maybe I’ll get some other moissanite rings for fun muahah

LuluBee1 :  that’s the very reason I sold my Moissanite.  It was so gorgeous but I just couldn’t get over the fact that it wasn’t a diamond and I felt like I was faking it and everyone would know.  I don’t know what to tell you. It’s a tough spot. I think you’re either 100% OK with Moissanite and owning it, or you’re not.  I realized I am the latter.

LuluBee1 :  Both rings are beautiful! I agonized about getting a moissy or diamond and I got a diamond for the same reasons you stated! I didnt want to feel like I’m faking it, I wouldnt lie to poeple but when people say ‘pretty ring!” or something generic I know they are assuming its a diamond so I would feel bad. However, I would love to get some moissy earrings!

LuluBee1 :  People act like they can tell, but they can’t unless they are a jeweler.  No one is going to care as much as you are.  People might guess that it’s “fake” if it’s much bigger than you could afford if it where a diamond.  But who cares?  You are being fiancially smart.   Most divorces are because of money.  I think a mossy means a better marriage!

I say own it.  I love that mossy’s are extra sparkly, but I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference if I just saw a persons ring without it being pointed out to me.

Rock it flaunt it be proud to show your financial savy.  People who walk around with all the fancy status items typically have crappy bank acounts and lots of debts.

LuluBee1 :  your new ring is gorgeous! They were both pretty, but I’m glad you went with what made you the happiest. Fellow oval girl, here, and still not tired of it:-)

LuluBee1 :  good choice! Its beautiful, but so was the moissanite, in your pics that were not crystal clear, I can’t tell which is which! (I usually can). Since moissanite is a created diamond simulant, not everyone is going to want one for their engagement/ wedding rings. Nothing wrong with that! Now with your new diamond you can stop worrying. Enjoy it!

rao4400 :  you’re making assumptions about people with diamonds. Not everyone has depleted their bank account to get one…happy for you that you consider yourself financially savvy for buying your large moissanite. Some prefer the real thing to an imitation though.
