So I woke up this morning and realized that I did something I have not done in a very long time.
I forgot to take my pill before I went to sleep last night. I took it when I woke up.
Fiance and I had sex last night, around the time I usually take the pill. I am freaking out! I have taken the pill perfectly for a year at least! I read my pill pack pamphlet again to confirm, and it does say that if you only miss 1 pill, then you do not need back up birth control.
Should I believe them and calm down? The last time this happened I was paranoid even AFTER I got my “period”. My period on the pill is almost nothing to nothing each month.
I know it is extremely unlikely that I would get pregnant, since Fiance also pulls out as a “back up” all the time anyway. But this is such a bad time for me to be pregnant that I can’t. stop. worrying.
Ugh. I will also probably get a headache today from messing around with the timing of my hormones and stress.

Calm down. 🙂 Unless you’re on the mini-pill (and you would know), one pill is ok to take late. If you take another one late or miss one altogether, you should use backup protection.

You’re fine. Take a deep breath and relax.

In order to get pregnant you have to be ovulating, which the pill prevents you from doing. Skipping the pill last night would NOT cause you to ovulate right that very second, at the exact time you were having sex. I definitely wouldn’t worry about getting pregnant from the sex you had last night, BUT, if you are paranoid about pregnancy, I’d recommed using a backup method from now until you get your period, just because your cycle may be the tiniest be wonky after skipping a pill. It’s highly unlikely that a roughly 8 hour delay with make your cycle screwy, but for peace of mind, use backup until you do get your period. Definitely don’t worry about last night’s “encounter” though.

There is like almost no chance you could be pregnant. Calm down!
