Holy moly that does not leave much time at all.  I think you need to find a venue ASAP, june is one of the biggest months to get married in and most places are probably booked by now, even if not in June this summer is probably booked for a lot of places, all depends on your area.

Or maybe wait til next summer, if you have families on the east coast and the west coast you are not giving them much time to make travel arrangements, also it will give you more time to save money up which is always nice.

If I were you, I would seriously push the wedding into next summer, so you have time to save for a wedding and you aren’t rushed. If you really want to get married this summer, I suggest a backyard of a family member or a friend.

@noritake22: i agree…this is what we are doing since we changed our date late in the game…..

your only over chance is to research venues you like, on the east coast and the west coast, and ask for their available dates this summer, see which ones have dates available and choose from there…..since theres not much time, i dont see any other way to find a venue if thats what you want to do…..

Why are you getting married so quickly? I assume that you are planning on a short engagement?

I would put the date off for awhile personally. Less stress and a lot more time to find the things that you want at the prices you can afford.

As for venue locations, have it were you live. If someone can’t travel to the wedding it’s an unfortunate thing but unless you are planning on having the wedding right in the middle of the country to make travel equal, you choose somewhere local. People expect to have to travel to weddings where the bride and groom reside.

I just took a peek at your profile. You got engaged in November 2009 so you have had nearly 1.5 years to plan the wedding but haven’t been able to get things worked out so I am assuming that you are just not able to get yourself organized? Would hiring a planner help or can you enlist the assistance of a friend who has already planned a wedding?

Again, I would definitely push the wedding back until next year.

Since it’s summer, I would say a backyard wedding… they’re really cute and you need very little decor. If you have a decent backyard you could have it there, or ask a friend with a large yard? Or you can have a destination wedding on the beach- very simple to plan, don’t have to really decorate, and besides traveling costs it can be cheap.

@WithoutWax: I think that backyard weddings are SO sweet. There are lots of brides that do it and there are a ton of ways to seriously cut costs. If you can DIY and other things. How about a fall wedding? That will give you a little more time to plan but not put it off for too long.

@WithoutWax: Hey there! I’m sorry to hear about his back issues and hope he recovers well.

I’m originally from New York and moved to Northern California 8 years ago. My fiance is from Northern Cali, too. We decided to have the wedding here due to the great weather in the fall and well, I’ve built my life here. A good portion of my family is making the trek out here, treating it as a vacation to wine country as well as the wedding.

I cam across a great venue here that offers some very affordable packages, including a wedding planner. We aren’t going with them but only because we have a specific theme that wouldn’t work there. Are you in this neck of the woods so I can give you the referral?

Otherwise, yes, I would say stick to a garden ceremony/reception. It will be beautiful and charming!
