Last week the Fiance and I checked out a venue and it was everything that we wanted/needed for our wedding. The coordinator there sent us an email with attachments with packaging information. The first one that we opened told us everything that we needed to know. That package was about $200 from the top of our venue budget, but in the long run it might even help us save a bit with all the perks they offer. My mother and I have made another appointment to go tour the facility one last time and put down a deposit. I sent the info to my mom and she looked at the last attachment and it had the package that I found listed (at the top of my budget) was put as $1,700 more in the attachment that she opened!
I can’t afford this venue if it really is $1,700 more than I thought. Should I call ahead and try to work out a price, or should I wait until I am face to face with the coordinator to try to talk her down? Now I’m just sad because it was the perfect backdrop for my wedding and they would allow me complete asthetic control and allow me to work with outside caterers. I don’t know what we are going to do if we lose this venue 🙁

Yes, absolutely try to work them. The worst they can do is say no, right? Good luck, I hope you get the venue!

Def call them and find out what the discrepancy is. I don’t understand why they would have two different prices unless one is for weekdays or sundays and the other for saturdays, I have seen that before. It is worth a try to try and talk them down, remember, you always have a No unless you ask the question.

Definitely ask. If it was their mistake, they should, if they are a good business, honor the lower price!
I was able to negotiate over $30 worth of “upgrades” into my package. It doesn’t hurt to ask.

I’d ask face to face. Come prepared and ask, they may say yes or at least do something to make up for it.

Thanks for the help bees, but it was user error! I was reading it wrong so unfortunately it is over budget, but we are thinking that we can stretch to make it work anyway! Apparently the company that I HAVE to have for the catering is owned by a woman that I used to go to church with and my mother used to work with, so I’m hopefully going to save the difference there and still get the ah-mazing menu that I want!
