If you think they’re pretty, I think that’s all that should matter, and I bet many (if not most) of your guests won’t even know the difference. I, for example, wouldn’t know a manzanita from a hole in the ground.

I completely second Taye.  If you love it, do it.  There’s nothing "tacky" about doing what you like and think is beautiful and is within your budget.

I agree with Taye. Nobody will notice and if they do who cares?! 🙂 Not only are you saving money, you’re also saving the environment (no pollution from shipping, etc.), and you’re repurposing things that would just be thrown away anyway.
Personally I think it’s cooler to use something from your parents & your In-Laws than buying something new, especially if it’s something like branches. Why buy expensive branches when you can get them for free? I think it’s a GREAT idea!

I agree that there is NOTHING tacky about working within your means! As long as you’re happy with the end result of the project, there’s no problem.

Plus, I think it’s more inappropriate to put yourself into deep debt over tree branches or judge someone else’s wedding choices than it is to paint found branches. I’m sure your project will be gorgeous, and I hope you’ll share pics when you’re done! 🙂

It depends on what they look like…branches are branches for any guest…I doubt they’ll ever stare and say: "hey, that’s not manzanita"…

Do whatever you think looks pretty!

It’s certainly not tacky!  In fact, my florist is bringing branches from her own yard to save us money!  Even the professionals do it! 🙂

This is a fantastic idea.  There’s no reason to overspend on branches.   Everyone else is right– no one will ever know the difference.

I think that working within your budget is great and expressing yourself thru unique and creative ways is even greater!

I seriously doubt anybody would question the origin of the branches, aside from Preston Bailey or a world-renowned designer.  Even then, THEY use creative elements from nature too and I think your eco-friendly approach is fabulous!
