I’m don’t really know all the rules/trends of fashion, so hopefully someone can help me figure out with what to wear for our engagment session (this weekend).
We are planning on wear two outfits. The shoot will be outdoors ice skating on a frozen lake, and then in a more urban area and inside our favorite restaurant.
Fiance wants to wear a button down shirt, tie, and cardigan for the inside pictures. Like this:
I really like this, but I have NO idea what to wear that would go with this look.
I’m pretty casual and I don’t really want to wear a dress (even if it is casual).
Any suggestions? Pictures would be helpful!
Thanks so much!

How about a jeans/cute sweater/long necklace combo?

Also, to give you a sense of my style, this is similar to the casual outfit I’m planning on wearing:
I don’t want to look too fancy, but I want to look like we go together.

I like your inspiration outfit (sans the Todd’s – not my thing!). I do think maybe a regular sweater would be a better choice than a cardigan though – otherwise it might look like you are trying to be too matchy with your fiance. Otherwise, it seems like you have a great look idea 🙂

@sarahbabs: Thanks for your advice. I didn’t say it clearly, but I would wear the outfit I posted and Fiance would wear a different casual outfit – probably just a solid color t-shirt and jeans.
I thought that the tie in the first outfit makes it fancy, so I was looking for an outfit to match it.
@Mrs.DBee: I like the idea of a long necklace. I’ll have to look for a cute one.

Any other suggestions from the morning crowd?

What types of things would you normally wear for a night out at a nice restaurant? The first thing that came to my mind to suggest was actually a dress lol or a skirt and a top.
What about skinny jeans, heels and a blazer top?

For that outfit, have you considered something a litte retro? I love the idea of my couples going together but not matchy-matchy. I think a dress would be adorable, something like this: http://www.modcloth.com/shop/dresses/seen-in-quebec-dress maybe in a tonal blue or tiny pattern.
