They likely did like a doorknob hanger and cut a small slit to the corner to slide it over the stem

See the second card in the series? They did a diagonal cut so it could slip over the glass and so they could cut out the circle :).

@Meant2Bee:  Just be sure to not bend the cards and they should have no problem staying on.

You could also, if you fancy (and/or can be bothered) when you’ve cut the cards and popped them over your glasses stick each (underneath) carefully with a bit of cellotape. Then, if you line it up right it’d look even more liek a magic trick!
