Ok so I already have a wedding gown. It is Alvina Valenta, gorgeous, but we were originally planning on getting married in a big cathedral followed by a black tie affair. Now we are getting married on a lake with the reception is a beautiful barn, so I am looking at a style more like the Melissa Sweet Lia. What do you think? Should I keep my dress or go for something a little for practical? Also, What color scheme should I go with? I am looking for all suggestions.
Here are both dresses #1
And here is dress #2
Sorry it wouldnt let me copy and paste any of the pics.
I need your HELP!!! Thanks

I love both dresses. But if yr original ones makes you feel gorgeous dont compromise for something just because its practical. You’re not at the ‘Practical over gorgeousness’ stage in life yet!! Most of the fuller dresses have a hook that brings the train in to a bussle to make it easier at the reception. If the ALvina dress doesnt have that most tailors can easliy add it. That could be your comprimise. Thats just my opinion. You can bring the Lake setting in on your decor, that will tie things in a little better.

The Alvina Valenta dres is GORGEOUS!!! It has such great details, and seems more unique to me than the Lia (although that is a favorite dress of mine, too). I think that you could make it work with a barn reception. For example, you could create centerpieces with baskets that have a similar weave to the bodice of the Alvina Valenta dress, and tie an ivory ribbon around the top secured with a brooch to add a touch of elegance. I am envisioning them overflowing with a full, soft flower like peonies or rananculus. I don’t think you can go wrong with either dress, though.

I think the Alvina Valenta dress will be very out of place at a barn wedding, though I also think that the Lia would be as well. They are both pretty formal for a rustic, barn type wedding.

If I remember correctly this is the second time you’ve though of letting go of the Alvina Valenta. Maybe this dress just isn’t what you wanted and you aren’t really that into it. Initally it doesn’t seem to "go" with a lake/barn wedding, but I agree that you can make it work by working in the basket weave theme.
Personally, I wouldn’t spend any more money on a dress then you already have…it’s just not worth it…and months after the wedding you’ll probably wonder why you spent so much. That being said, if you aren’t sold on the dress, then you just aren’t sold and maybe you should look for alternatives. Though the Lia is super common so I wouldn’t go with that.
