i know that many people nowadays put inside there wedding invitations, a little poem about preferring cash as a weding present rather than gifts. i have seen quite a few poems and mostly they are quite cute.
but i want a poem with a difference…..
i want a poem that tells my guests their presence is all we need and not presents. not that i am ungrateful, not that its not nice to get gifts, but as it is a destination wedding, and people will have the cost of travel, the very reason i invited them was not to get a present from them, but purely because i want them there, and i feel like i would like to tell them that…because some of them might factor our wedding gift into their costs, and then realise they cant afford to come, but if they knew we only want THEM, then i am hoping the guests will all be there with us.
but can i find the words i am looking for…..not on your life!

I just googled “wedding no gifts poem” and here is what I found:
We’d love your well wishes
And congratulations too,
No gifts are necessary
We just would like to see you!
Our love and commitment has found the way,
We have made it to this, our special day.
To save you shopping, sit back and rest,
A gift of your presence is all we request.
Now that we have saved you all the fuss,
We look forward to you celebrating our special day with us.

We made a commitment some time ago,
Together through Life we were destined to go.
We purchased our furniture, linen & bedding,
in the fulfilling years leading up to our wedding.
Thus we have all the essential goods for our home,
so from shop to shop there is no need to roam.
This is merely a suggestion and not a request,
the most appreciated gift is you as our guest.
