Try walking. You can go at your own pace and increase as you get more comfortable.

1 lb = 3500 calories

Do you have a smart phone?  I use a free app called “Calorie Counter”, and it helps to to track how much I’m eating vs. how much I’m burning.   So I can see how I’m burning through those 3500 calories each week.

sorry about that last post, didn’t see your most recent.  try looking for exercise videos on youtube with smaller weights (2-3 lbs) or walking as someone else suggested!

I was reading a review of a new diet book – I know, there’s always another, right? – and the basic gist of it was, the single most effective tip in the book is to eat off smaller plates.  Trick your eyes.  Reduce your portions, and you’re saving money already. Don’t buy soda etc – just drink water –  and you’re saving more.   As for exercise, do as much as you can do.  You can still lose the weight without it, it just takes a little longer is all.  Sparkpeople.com is great for calorie counting, free, and they’re all super friendly over there too.

Best of luck!

Best advice I was given and can actually give now:

Pay attention to what you eat. Write it down and figure out when you’re eating simply to eat (not because you’re hungry).

Watch what you eat…is your head in the freezer while you munch on ice cream? (I’m totally guilty of this) Stop buying things that are no good for your health.

Limit your salt and sugar intake.

Drink lots of water.

Do low impact cardio like yoga or just walk.

I spent 4 weekends in NYC just running errands and I lost 8 pounds. I think primarily because I wasn’t home where I would normally sit on the sofa watching Gilmore Girls and mindlessly eating.

You don’t necessarily need Weight Watchers to watch what you eat.

That’s it.If you do feel like making a casserole or something, plate it up and freeze the rest in freezer bags or appropriate containers for another day. If you have a decent piece of meat on your plate, some carbs and lots of veg, you’ll be satisfied from a purely hunger point of view anyway.

Try to make tasty food – you will get bored if you start living on boiled chicken! Yuck! Most dry spices have hardly any calories, herbs also, and I find most anything savoury can be improved by onions, garlic, and soy sauce!

Kettlenettics is a good, low impact workout that really gets your heart pumping. I try to do this on my days when I am taking it easy. Try it out! I bought my set at Ross for $13
