I’m am getting so sick of our wedding venue! We picked it because it was near the interstate so out-of-towners would easily find it, it accommodated our guest count, it was pretty, and was a decent total cost… or so we thought. Since paying the deposit however, and signing the contract they are coming up with all of these fees associated with everything for example, we can bring our own champagne but there is a $15 “corking fee.” Um HELL to the NO! And all kinds of other fees. My thoughts are, these fees are not stated in our contract and they are not listed on the banquet menu so we are not obligated to pay them. I’m to the point where I would rather us lose the $500 deposit and get a better deal elsewhere where we don’t have to deal with this nickle-and-dime crap. Anyone else going through this or been through this? Any words of encouragement or advice would be much appreciated! Thanks ladies!

We put down our deposit to save our date 2 months later we found out that the room we booked has a food & bev minimum 2X what we planned on spending!
They ended up telling us we could have our deposit back or change the date and they wouldnt have that high of a minimum
You might be able to get your deposit back because you didnt know about these fees before

You might want to have a serious talk with them about this. Everything should have been stated in the contract and/or gone over when you met with them. Do you have to use their vendors for food and bar? If you don’t, you might be able to find vendors that are less expensive.

I already know we won’t get the deposit back because we had an issue earlier (personal regarding medical circumstances) and they were rude about it and tried to make us feel bad. I wanted to be like, “Look so-and-so is dying, I don’t need you to make me feel bad about a stupid deposit.” But that’s a whole other story… They said up front we have to use their chef but we can bring our own alcohol, cake, desserts (because a lot of my family is diabetic so we wanted some sugar free desserts) and everything was fine. Now all of a sudden there’s all of these fees in place whereas they were not before.
So many things right now are just frustrating to me. It seems like if I call a place (dj, florist, caterer, rentals, etc.) and ask for a quote for an event I get one price but if I call back and ask for a quote for a wedding the price is tripled or more, even though the service is exactly the same. Gah it’s just depressing. lol
