Hi! My engagement party is coming up and I’m torn between two dresses. I tried the pink one on as a joke initially, cos I thought it looked silly, but my friends really liked it and it was on special so I bought it. Thought it was a fun choice, but to be honest the big ruffle bit kinda scares me. (it’s the same front and back).
I also bought the black dress as an option which I’m sure I’ll wear again and again. Which kinda puts me off, cos I really want to ‘stand out’ at the party and I feel the black one is a bit too safe/plain. But maybe the pink one is a bit extreme! (it really is very very pink. But then I love pink!)
Honestly, what do you think? I can totally handle it if you tell me they both ugly, I promise!! 🙂 thanks!!

I like brigh colors, but that pink one doesnt do you justice. Its not flattering and dare I say it “cheap” looking. Maybe its the shade or pink, lack of fit or fabric, but its not the best I have seen.
Black is fun and cute!

I like the black one MUCH better. The fabric on the pink one does look cheap and it hides your “assets.” You can definitely add some awesome pink accessories to that black dress though and have it look really sharp.

@sceeder: Yes! some great bright accessories will make it pop a lot.

I think you should go with the dress that makes you feel the most confident. By the way you’re describing the pink dress, you don’t seem to like it that much. When you’re confident, it exudes sexiness, and that shows in pictures!

I like the black much better…that material on the pink dress is not the most flattering on anyone I dont think!

I agree with PPs who said go with the black one. I feel like the pink one looks like it doesn’t fit you like it should in the top.

The pink would be cute, but I agree that the fit is off. The black one is adorable. I like the idea of color though.
What about this one?
Its only $37 from Lulus.com
They have alot of cute, budget-friendly options. And easy search options (by style – ie one shoulder or by color).

While the pink is a fun color, I think the black dress is more flattering. So I would either go with the black dress and play it up with accessories or find another dress with more color since that is important to you. I agree with you–it’s your party and if you want to stand out a little bit in the crowd you should. But keep in mind, it’s your engagement party, so I’m sure your just engaged glow and smile will help you stand out no matter what you’re wearing 🙂

@Shiner: ooh that dress is gorgeous!
Thanks for your opinions, you’re right the pink one doesn’t fit as well as the black one does. Okay now I’m on a mission! any of these ones any good you think?? Obviously I’m not wearing the right bra with any of them so appear a little flat! Really really appreciate this opinions thank you for helping!!

@Novemberfriends: I’m still loving the black dress.

I love the black, even after you posted the newer options! It’s not basic black at all to me. I really like the little bow, the detailing and ruffles. It just seems fun and a little flirty, perfect for an e party.

The black looks phenomenal on you. I kind of feel like the other ones you posted look more like ice skating costumes. I say go with the black and accessorize, accessorize, accessorize!
