Maybe not every couple is like this, by my SO and I always talk about how we would never have pictured ourselves with someone like the other. (I am religious, he is DEFINITELY not.)
I can’t figure out a good way to phrase this, but what about your SO would have been surprising to you, pre-them?
(also, since I feel like I should say this, this should be something that maybe you thought would matter, but doesn’t… a happy surprise. 😉 )

I never thought I’d fall in love with someone who loves guns. =/

Has a job that will possibly take us all over the world. I always imagined myself as settling down in my hometown permanently. I’m still a little teary about leaving for the unknown, but excited for the adventures ahead 🙂

I never thought I would have fallen in love with someone who has a massive beard 😉

Someone who ..FARTS SOO MUCH!
@Eva Peron: LOL! All I know is that my Fiance did not fart that much when we started dating!
My man can be whiny – which surprised the heck out of me! I am far more stoic.

I am loving this. 🙂
When I was young, we were encouraged to do a lot of “listing” of what characteristics we would want our future mate to have. (I super hated it, but that’s another post.)
I’m soooo happy that SO is not the personification of my list, I love him more than I could have ever imagined!

I never thought I would be with someone with such a similar personality to mine. I’ve always dated A-types, but Fiance is a stereotypical B-type personality like me.

Someone who is so similar to me, that he could practically be me in a guy’s body.
I was never the type to date a kindred soul.

I never thought I’d fall in love with someone who has as big of a sweet tooth as me.

Who would rather sleep or watch a movie than be outdoors and DOING something. I love him though! 🙂

… who dips!
@Eva Peron: ahaha— Darling Husband is gassy, too!
i can’t imagine myself with someone who would be too different from me mentally.i need a “kindred soul”, as PP said, cos it doesn’t look like a relationship to me if people don’t understand each other.

I never thought I could fall for someone who is a hoarder… I tend to ignore the overflowing stuff until I get down and dirty and start tossing! Ha!
