@ladyartichoke:  The first taste of his SW craze was in his room, and he has this huge poster where all the major characters from the films are rock stars. And I thought, “Oh boy, here we go…”

But surprisingly, despite his affinity for everything SW and Alien Trilogy, he functions well in society! :O

I never imagine I end up with a white guy from the south(never dated a white guy), gunloving/hunting, such a buff out door loving guy.

Never thought I would be with a man:

  • who is a “left brain thinker”
  • who understands my love of Ninja Turtles, LotR and Batman
  • who play(ed) WoW
  • who is a foot taller than me
  • who is an exercise/fitness buff
  • who is as patient as he is

Never thought I would b e with big guy(not fat just big) who has a lot of facial hair and also the real big thing is one who doesn’t enjoy holidays much, but he humors me and comes over to my house and participates with my family and actually has a good time 🙂

Who isn’t anywhere as socially liberal as I am.  He’s not conservative exactly… but compared to me, he is.  I thought anyone like him would be a lot more heartless than he actually is.

I forgot to mention in my earlier post that I never expected to end up with someone with facial hair. I thought I always appreciated a clean cut gentleman but my husband has a huge handlebar moustache ( as anyone who has seen my wedding recap can tell).  It is a pretty epic stache and I can’t ever imagine asking him to shave where as I would have asked others in my past to.  Its a pat of him and I would never ask him to give it up.

I continue to be shocked I’m with someone more ornery, fussy, and picky than me! Yet he has a great sense of humor about it and is extremely willing to accept most of his annoyances stem from his own attitude… which, in turn, reminds me that my own fussiness is never about him, but about my own attitude as well.

It!s wonderful to accept him just as he is and have him accept me – the  over-thinking worry wart that I am – without trying to change me. We are able to give one another a lot of space, but also enjoy each other’s company.

I’m also continually shocked I’m with someone who fully embraces my family. My family is not easy to get along with, yet he makes spending time with them look effortless. He’s the first man I ever dated that my mom liked.

I never thought I would fall in love with a smoker, who is my height.

….a man who is so not athletic or outdoorsey. All my past boyfriends were at least High School athletes who continued to play sports/run/hike/hit the gym recreationally. DH loves watching soccer but his affinity for sport stops there. He hates baseball (my fav.)!

…a man who is not American. This is not a negative trait in anyway although it does account for his not understanding baseball. I just completely imagined marrying someone from my state not another country.

I said this too SO just last night.

“I never thought that I would ever fall in love with one of those guys.”

And I was talking about a guy who was in a fraternity and loved it. A freaking frat boy. Never, ever, my style. But apparently, absolutely perfect for me.

I never imagined myself with someone who was so perfect to me that I never want to change one single thing about him.  Every day I still feel I’m the luckiest woman in the world that he loves me and wants to marry me.  I feel like I won the lottery with this man.

Its not so much that I never thought i’d end up with someone who is a gun lover cus i never thought about it- More-so that I never in a million years thought I’d meet someone who not only loved guns but that made me fall in love with guns too. If you would have told me 4 years ago i’d be willingly buying and carrying a gun myself – I would have laughed in your face. He really opened my eyes and I love him so much for it – ofcourse seeing the smile on his face is absolutely priceless and i’d do it just for that. lol.

…was so much taller than me! Before Fiance, I always dated short to average guys, since I am very short.

EDIT: I forgot to add “who watches anime”!

I never imagined I’d be with someone so left brained. He can also be incredibly OCD about the silliest stuff, and he doesn’t smile in pictures. I think about what it would be like to be with someone more laid back, but honestly, if he was as laid back as I am, nothing would ever get done! haha
