The title pretty much says it all. I ordered my Maggie Sottero Marianne not even two weeks ago, and the bridal salon called me today saying it came in. Is this totally out of the norm?! When I went in and bought it, my consultant was like, “oh you’re here in the nick of time!” she was explaining how it can take like 6 months for a dress to come in and all this stuff. I’m not complaining at all, I’m just wondering, has this happened to anyone else? I totally was not expecting this to happen!

Sounds kinda sketchy. It should take longer.

futureladyharvey: The dress you ordered is a priority gown, so that means they can make it quickly. Seems like this one was already made, actually.

raspberrymojito: It kinda does, right? I really hope not though. I guess we’ll find out when I pick it up!
clairebbbear: Ohhh, okay, thank you for that info! It definitely seems like it was already made. I ordered it at a trunk show, maybe that has to do with the speed? Either way, nice that I get to pick up so soon!

Sometimes designers have dresses ready to go at their warehouse, and when a salon places an order they’ll just send that one. Totally legit!

It could have been a cancelation that happened to be in your size?

futureladyharvey: When I ordered my dress in March they told me it would be in by September. They called me two weeks later saying it was here. I actually got a little irritated (I had planned on losing weight before going to try it on) when they asked if I wanted to come in and see it. I just kept saying, “Why is it here so early!?” I was really sketched out. I eventually went and inspected it like crazy. Maybe I’m just suspicious, but this, to me, felt like someone already ordered this dress and canceled, or was a sample dress hanging around somewhere. I know, I know. Crazy.

nygirla: when I pick up Friday I’ll post some! 😀
MrsMeowton: I definitely see where you’re coming from. I’m also just the slightest bit anmoyed that it’s here so early, because I feel like when I went in they made me feel like I needed to order that very day for it to be here in time. My wedding is a year away, and I expected to be waiting for at least a few months. Oh well, I guess all’s well that ends well. Now every time I get nervous I chose the wrong dress, I can just look at it and remind myself how beautiful it is!

futureladyharvey: That happened to me with my Maggie Sottero dress too! I went shopping in early Feb for my mid-Sept wedding and every dress store I went to kept telling me I was getting close to needing to make a decision. When I finally decided on Primrose, they told me it would take about 5-6 months. I got a call 3 weeks later saying it was in! I had them double check because I didn’t believe them. I went BM dress shopping a week later and was able to try it on. I also thought it was extremely weird, but maybe it was already in a warehouse close by and easy to ship. Who knows! First actual fitting is next week so I get to see it again – can’t wait!

I ordered my dress in Jan 2013 and was told its expected delivery was June 2013. It came like the next week. It came so fast that I thought they had tried to give me one off the rack lol. But nope, it was brand new and I made sure I checked that baby up and down before walking out with it. It happens, I just didn’t know it until it happened to me.
