I found my shoes at Steve Madden… the Regaal in blush. They were perfect because they had the height I wanted (FI is 6’2 and I’m 5’2) and the hint of pink I wanted. I went two weeks before my dress fitting and unfortunately, they didn’t have the shoe in my size, but they ordered it and ASSURED me that they would be in on time for my dress fitting.
Fast forward to about 2 days before the fitting… my shoes had not arrived. I called Steve Madden, let them know the shoe hadn’t arrived and they said they would have to call me back because their system was down. They didn’t call back! I called the next day… the manager wasn’t in. I then called the day of the fiitting and they said they could not track the shoes down. Of course they were apologetic and I tried to be respectful because I wanted them to work with me. So the day of the fitting, I wore a pair of my shoes that I thought would be comprable to the Steve Madden shoes.
TWO DAYS later, the manager at the Steve Madden store calls me and says, “We tracked them down, the other store never sent them AND THEY SOLD THEM TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER! We can’t find those shoes anywhere else! We’re so sorry…. we’ll fully reimburse your money.”
I was very upset, but I didn’t know what else to do. I told my fiance and he said I should call the district manager because I should be compensated somehow.
Have any of you had an experience like this one? Should I call a district manager and get compensated? For those of you who work in retail, could I get some kind of compensation?
